Jill Scott reveals she nearly ‘wiped out’ Prince William the first time she met him as she recalls embarrassing blunder on The Jonathan Ross Show
Jill Scott has revealed she nearly ‘wiped out’ Prince William the first time she met him as she appeared on The Jonathan Ross Show on Thursday.
The former England Ladies captain, 38, who became the first female captain in Soccer Aid history, recalled the near miss as she joined Will Poulter, Craig David, Jack Dee and Roisin Conaty on the show.
Jill opened up on a time where she nearly injured the future king as she recalled the embarrassing blunder.
The footballer, who looked glamorous in a black fitted dress, told show host Ross: ‘We were opening this school. I just had trainers and it was astro turf.
‘I slipped and wiped him out. [I thought], ‘I’ve just slide-tackled the future King!’ He’s such a lovely guy.’
During the episode, Jill also opened up on her receiving her MBE in a non conventional way.

Reflecting back to the time, she explained: ‘It was Covid time. I bought all the outfit [but it had to be delivered to home instead and] I missed it one day. You know when you get the [missed parcel note].
‘I missed the parcel. So I went to pick it up… and it was my MBE. It was in the sorting office in Warrington.’
‘Prince William did write me a nice letter, he’s really supported the women’s team over the years. He’s so lovely, he’s always supported the team’, she added.
And this is not the first time Jill has been caught being a little cheeky as ITV’s Soccer Aid issued an apology to viewers after Jill used ‘industrial language’ live on air during a match in 2023.
The charity game returned for it’s 18th edition as celebrities got together to raise millions for UNICEF and help those less fortunate around the world.
£15,049,590 was raised by the event, with former Chelsea star Eden Hazard scoring for the World XI on his return to Stamford Bridge.
England finally ended their five-match Soccer Aid losing streak as beat World XI, which included the likes of ex-players Alessandro Del Piero and Jermain Defoe, 6-3.
However, at one point in the first half former Lionesses midfielder Scott, who was representing England, missed an opportunity to put her team ahead and let out her frustration in x-rated style.

Sam Matterface, who was on commentary, said: ‘I don’t know if you noticed it, I certainly didn’t but there may have been, just may have been, some rather industrial language that emanated from Jill Scott’s mouth when she missed the chance [to score], if that was the case, we do apologise!’
Meanwhile co-commentator and Love Island host Iain Strirling joked: ‘We’ll apologise on Jill Scott’s behalf, just in case, I’m actually getting fed up apologising on Jill Scott’s behalf.
‘She needs to wash her mouth out with soap quite frankly!’
In the end Scott was all smiles as England secured victory at the home of Chelsea and lifted the shield.
