Nicolle Wallace Doubts Noem’s ‘Competence’ While Fox’s Gutfeld Drools Over How ‘Hot’ She Is

MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace questioned Department of Homeland Security secretary nominee Kristi Noem’s “competence” as Fox News anchor Greg Gutfeld commented how “hot” she is in opposing Friday broadcasts.

On Deadline: White House, Wallace showed a clip of Noem falsely claiming that the Trump administration “never had a family separation policy” regarding migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border.

There was, in fact, such a policy, and at least 2,000 children still haven’t been reunited with their parents, according to a Feb. 2024 estimate by the American Civil Liberties Union.

Wallace then showed viewers how the South Dakota governor replied to Michigan Sen. Elissa Slotkin asking if she would support the president ordering her to deploy federal law enforcement to a state “without coordination with that governor.”

Noem answered: “You know, senator, the—my job, if nominated and sworn in as Secretary of Homeland Security, is to uphold the Constitution and to—”

Slotkin interjected, “So you will push back?”

“Yes. That will be the oath and the pledge that I will be making,” said Noem. “And my goal also is to work with you to ensure that we have situations that are always appropriate, that we are well defined.”

“She makes me miss Sarah Palin,” said Wallace, a senior adviser to John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign, which had Palin on the ticket.

“These are the flash points that are going to erupt,” continued Wallace, in light of Trump’s insistence on mass deportations. “They may not happen…in Washington, D.C. They may happen out in the states where people are trying to implement Trump’s policies.”

Menendez added that Noem’s fixation on the southern border and immigration might prove costly.

“If you watch today and you only watched her statement and her answers and you didn’t listen to the questions from the senators, you would think that the only thing she would be in charge of was immigration and the U.S.-Mexico border,“ she said.

“In reality, the mission of DHS is to secure the nation from the many threats we face. Emphasis on many,” Menendez continued. “You wouldn’t know, for example, that she’s going to be in charge of FEMA. You wouldn’t know that she’s in charge of America’s cybersecurity.”

Menendez posed, “Is she so hyper-focused on immigration and the us-Mexico border that she’s not going to have her eye on other threats to the U.S. Homeland? And is that going to come not just in attention, but in resources?”

Shortly after this panel discussion wrapped up, thoughts on Noem’s confirmation hearing were wildly different on Fox News’ The Five.

There, Gutfeld obsessed over how “hot” Noem is.

“She’s so hot that shooting a dog isn’t a deal-breaker,” he said, referencing how Noem acknowledged in her memoir that she once chose to shoot and kill her dog.

Gutfeld continued to talk about appearances.

“You look at this crop of nominees, and the party—there’s something there, man. They’re all—they’re all!—in great shape!” he said.

Gutfeld added, “You’ve got to look at people who preserve and maintain what’s important in their lives.” He wagered, “If they are going to do that with their physical self, they are going to do that in other areas.”

According to Gutfeld, discipline “is why a lot of liberals are just fat, out-of-shape losers.” He added, “They don’t believe in structure, in discipline.”
