The Price Is Right player celebrates after winning car
The Price Is Right has often given players the chance to win themselves a brand new car, but a recent change to one of the games has called time on the prize.
One contestant took part in the Spelling Bee game on Friday April 25 which usually sees players picking numbered card from the gameboard.
On the back of the cards there will be a letter to spell out a word – for example “C,” “A,” or “R,” to spell out “car.”
Other cards feature a whole word on the back where they win automatically, but whatever happens they have to spell out “Car” fully to win.
The contestant will start the game with two cards where they have to correctly price items with a guess that is within $10 of the actual price to earn more cards.

Brent, an engineer, took part on Friday and was immediately informed of the change to the prize by host Drew Carey. He said: “So, we’re playing a game called Spelling Bee.
“Usually, we play this game for a car, but today we’re playing it for $25,000.”
He continued: “So, instead of spelling ‘car,’ you have to spell supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. No, ‘Win’ you have to spell.”
Brent chose cards 14 and 19 and had to price an adjustable water-resistant outdoor seat, a steel bike lock, and an adjustable sleep mask.
Brent correctly guessed the seat was worth $50 and got another card. He was then allowed to pick three cards immediately without guessing the other prices because he had guessed accurately.
Picking 4, 23, and 27, Brent was offered $5000 by Drew to walk away without revealing what was on the other cards, but he declined the lump sum and said he was “going for it” because he “came to play.”
When the first two cards were revealed as “I’s” Drew offered him $3,000 to take home immediately, but Brent again declined saying: “One of them says ‘win’,” at which point Drew picked up the remaining card and turned it over to show “Win” written on the back of it.
He exclaimed: “You got it! 25 grand!” A delighted Brent then said: “Unbelievable!”
Seeing the impressive win one fan commented on social media:“Wow, Brent won $25,000 from Spelling Bee, even though they usually play it for a car! Nice change of pace!”
A second asked: “So Spelling Bee is a cash game now not a car game?”
Brent also won a home pilates package on Bidder’s Row and went on to take part in the Showcase where his was a trip to Oregon, a tour of Italy, and a 2025 Bayliner Element M15.
Brent placed a bid of $40,000 before it was revealed the actual value was $46,287, leaving him with a difference of $6,287.
Brent’s opponent went over leaving Brent the winner of the Showcase and all of the prizes making him the biggest winner on the night with an impressive $92,185 in cash and prizes.
