Caitlin Clark’s Major Shooting Slump Continues as Fever Top Storm

Aliyah Boston delivered a career performance Tuesday night, scoring 31 points to power the Indiana Fever to a 94-86 road win over the Seattle Storm. Kelsey Mitchell added 26 points, including five three-pointers, as Indiana climbed back to .500 on the season with a statement victory at Climate Pledge Arena.

Boston, the 6-foot-5 forward and former No. 1 overall pick, was dominant from start to finish. Her 31 points eclipsed her previous career high of 30, set last September against the Atlanta Dream, and came just days after a 26-point outing against the Las Vegas Aces. She added nine rebounds and a pair of blocks to cap off a complete performance.

Mitchell was lights out from beyond the arc and found her rhythm during a pivotal third quarter in which Indiana outscored Seattle 30-19. She poured in seven of her 26 points during that stretch, while Boston added eight, helping the Fever build a double-digit cushion that proved too much for the Storm to overcome. The Fever now sit at 7-7 on the season after starting 1-8.

While the night belonged to Boston and Mitchell, rookie sensation Caitlin Clark had a rough outing. Clark finished with just six points on 3-of-13 shooting and missed all six of her three-point attempts.

She’s now just 1-for-23 from deep in her last several games, a cold streak that’s come despite her continued playmaking and defensive contributions.

Lexie Hull chipped in 15 points, and Damiris Dantas added 10 for Indiana in a well-rounded effort. The Fever’s depth and frontcourt dominance allowed them to outlast a late Seattle rally led by Skylar Diggins-Smith, who finished with a team-high 22 points.

Seattle looked sharp early, taking an 18-12 lead in the first quarter after a three-point play by Ezi Magbegor. But the momentum shifted as Indiana settled in and took control of the pace in the second quarter.

Mitchell drilled a deep three with under a minute remaining in the half to give the Fever their largest lead of the first half, and they entered the break up 45-39.

The crowd, packed with local legends including Sue Bird, Megan Rapinoe, Isaiah Thomas, and Lenny Wilkens, had little to cheer about in the second half as the Fever silenced Seattle with their relentless offensive execution and tenacious defense.

The Fever will look to build on this win when they return home to face the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday. The Storm (9-6) will aim to regroup as they host the Connecticut Sun on Friday.
