Conor Benn claims Chris Eubank Jr is being paid £10million after their rematch was recently made official.
The sequel is set to take place on September 20. The pair finally fought back in April after years of trading barbs. In an epic back-and-forth encounter, Eubank Jr edged a thrilling contest on points.
Their next fight will be part of the Riyadh Season event and will be promoted by Sela, Boxxer and Matchroom. No venue has yet been confirmed and the final decision will be made by Turki Alalshikh and Ring Magazine. With the sequel just a few months away, both men are once again expected to be rewarded handsomely.
Ahead of the first meeting, it was reported that total fight purse for the clash was £15m – with a 50/50 split agreed by the British fighters, meaning they each earned £7.5m, the biggest pay days of their respective careers. Now, it seems as if they will earn a little more. In an interview with Boxing King Media, Benn seemingly leaked the fight purse.

When asked if he was worried about Eubank Jr cutting weight, Benn brutally hit back: “I do not care about him. I do not care about him cutting weight. He is getting paid an absolute fortune. People do that for ten grand, he is getting paid ten million.”
With a venue yet to be confirmed, Benn’s promoter Eddie Hearn has cited Tottenham and Wembley as possible venues. He said: “Spurs is contracted – it’s a fantastic stadium and it worked extremely well the first time. Obviously, it was sold out and this fight’s even bigger, so you could possibly look at Wembley to increase the capacity, but that will be a decision for His Excellency and Ring Magazine to make the final call.”
According to the Ring Magazine, the rules will be the same as the first time around. There will be a middleweight limit of 160 pounds with a ten pound rehydration clause on the morning of the fight. This means Benn will be fighting at a higher weight again and Eubank Jr may struggle to make the official limit of 160lbs.
Ahead of the fight, Eubank Jr failed to make weight as he weighed in first at 160.2lb, before tipping the scales at 160.05lb at his second attempt. Recently, the Brit was ordered to appear in front of the British Boxing Board of Control to explain his use of a sauna to cut weight for his clash with Benn. The 35-year-old is alleged to have used a sauna for his failed attempt to make the middleweight limit. He is set to appear before the BBBofC this month and the governing body – who have banned the use of a sauna to make weight – will decide whether any disciplinary action is required.
