Wayne Lineker slams Conor McGregor and names victim of Ibiza nightclub attack who ‘took punches like a champ’

Wayne Lineker has shared his thoughts on Conor McGregor’s nightclub incident.

Wayne Lineker has slammed Conor McGregor and named the victim of the Ibiza nightclub incident.

McGregor went viral on social media after he was caught landing two punches on a fellow club reveller in a nightclub.

Dana White has made his feelings clear on McGregor, who hasn’t fought since his TKO defeat to Dustin Poirier back in July 2021.

The identify of the victim has since been revealed by club mogul Lineker, who has shared a post on social media.

Lineker has taken to Instagram to reveal his friend Joe Gomez was at the centre of the shocking incident.

He went onto claim Joe took the ‘punches like a champion’ and expressed his ‘disappointment’ at the ex-UFC double champion.

“Thought about this post a lot,” wrote the 63-year-old.

“This is my very close friend who has worked at Ocean for eight years, he has the most special heart and in all of the years that I’ve known him he has never raised his voice once.

“He took two punches from Conor McGregor in Pacha for absolutely no reason.

“Let me introduce you to Joe Gooomez (sic). He took the punches like a champion.

“I’ve since deleted my post of Conor at Ocean on Sunday. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement.

“We at Ocean Beach Ibiza will always put our family first #wearefamily.”

One of Joe’s mates, who was in the club during the bust-up, also shared his thoughts on the incident.

He said Joe is ‘fine’ and came through the two-punch attack unscathed.

“He has worked with Wayne for a long time and Wayne is very loyal to his staff,” he told The Sun.

“Conor had a great deal at Ocean – he got a table and drinks for free. Now that benefit may well be taken away.

“If you were around Conor in the club and you took your phone out, you’d be told to put it away.

“I don’t know how Joe got that close to begin with.

“Joe’s not said anything about pressing charges or making a formal complaint to the police.

“He had some time off booked after the incident anyway, but Wayne has been very good at handling it.

“Joe’s fine and there was no injury from the punches. It was obviously a shock, and he feels he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

McGregor was pictured partying with a string of celebrities prior to the shocking incident.

Conor McGregor has finally broken his silence after he became involved in a physical altercation with a man in an Ibiza nightclub on Tuesday.

This article contains graphic/violent content, which some viewers may find upsetting.

McGregor, 36, has been on the Spanish Balearic island of Ibiza in recent days and found himself in a spot of bother on Tuesday.

The Sun released a video which appeared to show the UFC star throwing two punches towards a fellow club-goer before several onlookers intervened.

Witnesses have since come forward and recalled what they saw.

One witness told the Sun: “Clearly something’s been said to annoy him and he’s reacted very badly.

“The guy seemed to fall to the floor, and his mates came to pick him up and get him away.

“There [didn’t appear to be any] consequences for Conor, but the guy he punched was taken away, and I didn’t see him again.”

While another added: “Someone came up to them and when Conor hit him, about five people fell to the floor as the guy stumbled back.

“It was a bit like bowling pins, but the guy was really shaken by the hits.

“About a minute later, the bouncers came and got him on the back and took him out of the club, because he had annoyed Conor.

“It was right before close anyway. There was no messing around; they just removed him.

“Conor left through the garden a bit later; he didn’t look very happy that they got into a fight.”

Joe Rogan has made his feelings clear on Conor McGregor as shocking Ibiza nightclub fight video goes viral

Joe Rogan has warned Conor McGregor from returning to the UFC in his late 30s.

Joe Rogan has already issued a warning to Conor McGregor amid his latest controversy.

McGregor, 36, made headlines but for all the wrong reasons.

The Irishman was caught flooring a club reveller with two brutal punches in a Ibiza nightclub, with footage going viral.

He was pictured partying with a string of celebrities prior to the shocking incident.

A witness has since revealed what happened following the punch-up.

UFC boss Dana White has made his feelings clear on McGregor, who hasn’t fought since his TKO defeat to Dustin Poirier back in July 2021.

The ‘Notorious’ was due to return to the famed Octagon at last summer’s UFC 303 when he was matched against Michael Chandler.

But he was forced to withdraw from the Las Vegas event after he suffered a toe injury.

He has been itching to return to action but has yet to be booked in a fight.

Rogan, who has commented on several of his fights, believes it would be ‘really sad’ if he came back in his late 30s and bemoaned his partying antics.

“He had a broken toe before his fight against Chandler,” he said on his podcast last April. “I understand that. OK, why should you fight with a broken toe? Especially a guy who moves a lot like Conor, he relies on movement so much. Yeah, I get it. So heal that toe up. What’s that, two months? And so then you’re back in camp, and then you reschedule a fight, and then you fight again. But he didn’t.”

Rogan added: “Also partying, constant partying. All these legal problems that he has, scooting around on yachts, and driving around in a Lamborghini. He’s wealthy. What’s really sad is if he comes back when he’s like 39 or 40 and his body just doesn’t have it anymore.”

The UFC commentator also delved into his social life and isn’t convinced he will fight again.

“When you hear guys are doing coke, that one’s the worst, that’s the one that deteriorates you more than anything,” he explained. “That’s a scary one for fighters too because the thrill of cocaine is exciting for people who like exciting things. Fighters are adrenaline junkies that like to be pumped up.

“Conor seems to enjoy it which is one of the things that makes me bet he probably won’t come back.”
