A&E Network’s new series, “Duck Dynasty: The Revival,” premiered on June 1 at 9 p.m. and was available for viewing on A&E, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu and Pluto TV.
The “Duck Dynasty” reboot follows the lives of Willie and Korie Robertson, and the next generation of the family, as they map out the future of Duck Commander and pass down the family legacy to their children.
The show also features Sadie Robertson Huff, John Luke Robertson and Bella Robertson May, as they navigate marriage and businesses of their own.
What are people saying about “Duck Dynasty: The Revival?”
The Robertson family first made their television debut March 21, 2012, when “Duck Dynasty” first aired on A&E. The show quickly gained popularity as viewers took interest in the Duck Commander family business, and they also enjoyed the family’s individual personalities, as well as observing their duck hunting practices.
The original “Duck Dynasty” show ended on April 5, 2017 after 11 seasons. While the show was very popular initially, it began to face criticism after controversial statements made by the late patriarch of the family, Phil Robertson.
Willie and Korie Robertson decided to bring the series back, with a focus on the next generation of Robertsons, ultimately because they felt a responsibility to their fans and wanted to honor the show’s legacy.
Ratings for Duck Dynasty: The Revival
The “Duck Dynasty: The Revival” premiere was a big winner for A&E, compared to other shows on the network, although, numbers were down substantially from the series’ prime, says IMDB.
The premiere on June 1 reached 510,000 viewers, according to Nielsen Ratings, however, the show’s original run would regularly top more then 1 million viewers, even during later seasons.
The premiere focused on how Willie and Korie have expanded the family business, and included a tribute to Phil, who died on May 25 from Alzheimer’s disease, with a clip of Willie reading the show’s intro to his father.
Reviews of the new series ranged from fans saying that the show wasn’t the same without some family members that were on the original show, and others saying that they were excited to keep up with the show, even if some things had changed.
