Selena Gomez shared a cryptic message just hours after her ex Justin Bieber revealed his cruel words he once said to wife Hailey Bieber.

The actress and singer, 32, posted an excerpt from the self-help book called The Words I Never Dared To Say by Isabelle Miumiu.

Selena shared the excerpt: ‘You discover you have the ability to erase one person’s greatest pain. Who would you use this gift on, and why?’

The timing of her Instagram stories snap on Tuesday comes at an interesting moment – merely hours after Justin was slammed after he himself revealed he once told Hailey she would never be on the cover of Vogue magazine – on the day Hailey’s Vogue cover dropped.

Justin had explained in the bizarre caption that he was ‘sadly mistaken’ that his prophecy that she would never be on the cover of Vogue – was wrong.

Selena dated Justin on and off from December 2009 until April 2014, June 2014 until October 2014 and October 2017 until March 2018.

Justin went on to marry Hailey Bieber – proposing to her only four months after he split from Selena.

Justin and Hailey got their marriage license on September 13, 2018 and had their wedding in South Carolina on September 30, 2019.

On Tuesday, Hailey was revealed to be the summer issue cover girl of US Vogue, a huge achievement.

Her skincare and makeup brand Rhode also had a huge announcement – it is set to drop in Sephora – another huge milestone in the star’s career.

Instead of sharing the Vogue cover and congratulating his wife, Justin revealed a cruel comment he told her – in what appeared to be a very backhanded compliment.

Justin posted the cover of US Vogue ‘Yo this reminds me when Hailey and I got into a huge fight, I told hails that she would never be on the cover of vogue, Yikes I know, so mean, For some reason because I felt so disrespected I thought I gotta get even,’ he wrote.

Instead of sharing the Vogue cover and congratulating his wife, Justin revealed a cruel comment he told her – in what appeared to be a very backhanded compliment

Justin added: ‘think as we mature we realize that we’re not helping anything by getting even, we’re honestly just prolonging what we really want which is intimacy and connection.’

He concluded his post by writing a message directly to Hailey, which read: ‘So baby u already know but forgive me for saying u wouldn’t get a vogue cover cuz clearly i was sadly mistaken.’

Many saw his caption as a backhanded compliment and something ‘so unnecessary’ to share with his more than 294 million Instagram followers.

‘It’s okay to have secrets Justin,’ one commented.

Another wrote: ‘You couldn’t waterboard this information out of me lmao.’

‘Why would you write something like that… put that phone down please,’ a third urged.

Others criticized him for accidentally writing ‘sadly mistaken’ versus ‘happily’ mistaken, since he obviously meant to congratulate her on the achievement.

He deleted the caption and added emojis hours later – and no words.

In the interview, reporter Alessandra Codinha shared that Justin emailed her a cute note about his wife of seven years.

Justin and Hailey share son Jack Blues Bieber, who will turn on in late August.
