The Golden State Warriors went into Wednesday’s Game 2 against the Houston Rockets looking to pull off a second straight upset.

Instead, their season and hopes of making a run in the playoffs flashed before their eyes with around 2:30 remaining in the first quarter. Five-time All-NBA selection Jimmy Butler went down with what was later ruled a pelvis contusion due to Houston’s Amen Thompson stumbling into his legs while he was landing after jumping for a rebound.

While Butler was unable to return to the Warriors’ 109-94 loss, his agent Bernie Lee did send ESPN’s Marc Spears a message that could give fans some optimism, as revealed on “NBA Today.”

“Pray for the bear,” Butler’s agent texted Spears.

While it’s unclear who the bear is in this scenario, Spears did interpret the message as Butler having a chance to possibly make a return.

“That tells me that that’s some optimism for Jimmy,” Spears said regarding the cryptic message.

Although he viewed it as a positive note for Butler and the Warriors, Spears also highlighted the importance of Jonathan Kuminga being ready if needed.

“He’s got to play,” Spears said. “He brings some athleticism that the Warriors need in this series. So hey JK, you wanna play and you want the bag this is your time.”

Following the Warriors’ loss, the series is deadlocked at one apiece as the teams will play the next two games in San Francisco. Despite Butler’s status being up in the air, ESPN BET currently has the Dubs favored by 3.5 points, while the matchup predictor gives them a 58.3% chance at winning.

Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET and will air on ABC.
