NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Phil Robertson, the outspoken patriarch of the “Duck Dynasty” family and founder of Duck Commander, has died at 79, his daughter-in-law Korie Robertson confirmed Sunday (May 25) in a Facebook post.

Robertson had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, a revelation the family shared publicly in a December episode of their podcast, “Unashamed with The Robertson Family.” In the months since, his condition had reportedly worsened.

Jase Robertson, another of Phil’s sons, previously said the elder Robertson was also battling a blood disease that exacerbated his health problems.

Phil Robertson rose to fame on the hit A&E series “Duck Dynasty,” which aired from 2012 to 2017 and followed the lives of the Louisiana family behind the Duck Commander duck call company.

The A&E network recently announced a reboot of the “Duck Dynasty” franchise, though it made no mention of Phil in its promotional material.

No further details about funeral arrangements have been released.
