Hailey Bieber‘s solo walk and understated outfit on the Met Gala red carpet Monday night exuded a ‘strong statement’ as she ditched her husband Justin Bieber, according to body language expert Judi James.

Over the past few months, fans have become increasingly concerned for her husband Justin Bieber’s well-being, amid his recent appearances and ‘cry for help’ livestream video on Instagram early last month.

On Monday night, Hailey, who wore a simple, black Saint Laurent mini blazer, did not appear alongside Justin at the 2025 Met Gala with amid recent speculation that their marriage is rocky. 

Hailey also recently appeared without her husband at Miami’s Formula 1 weekend with her friend, Kylie Jenner.

But Hailey’s decision to go solo for such a big event on Monday night sent a message to both fans and haters, according to Judi James.

‘Doing the Met without Justin looks like a strong statement and Hailey’s styling and her body language looked equally strong,’ James told DailyMail.com exclusively.

‘This is a very simple-statement look in a sea of overstated fashion. Her “just a jacket” sticks to the theme of the Gala but without the clause of “Dandy” that might have given it an emotional lift,’ James continued.

‘Hailey’s dark jacket looked simple and somber, as did her body language. She tossed her hair but not a preening ritual and she glanced over her shoulder but with a serious-looking facial expression that lacked any signs of excitement or emotion.’

James also suggested that Hailey’s basic makeup and overall look may have been due to the fact that she didn’t want to draw much attention to herself.

‘Her makeup and her styling looked understated, and she seemed to be giving of the message that her beauty didn’t need any garnish to have impact, but also the impression that she didn’t seem to want to be seen relishing the very public appearance without her famous husband at her side,’ James explained to DailyMail.com.

However, there was one moment on the carpet that Hailey appeared vulnerable – when she was asked to move at one point. According to James, the model ‘performed a rather child-like skip of her feet,’ which suggested ‘some feelings of vulnerability.’

As she walked into the car from her hotel, Hailey also clutched a martini.

Hailey’s appearance marked her first at the gala since 2022, one year after she made her red carpet debut with Justin.

There’s heavy speculation that her brief absence from the Met Gala was due to the bullying she was rumored to have endured during the 2021 event.

But a few sources recently spilled to DailyMail.com that the 28-year-old Rhode Skin founder is relying on the support of her famous pals more than ever as she continues to navigate challenges in her relationship with the 31-year-old pop star.

‘Kylie and Kendall know Justin better than anyone, and they also know how unhappy Hailey is at the moment,’ an insider exclusively told DailyMail.com. ‘Her fairytale is not the fairytale that she envisioned.’

The trio was spotted at celeb hotspot Sushi Park in West Hollywood on April 4 – sans Justin.

The outing caught the attention of eagle-eyed fans who questioned why Hailey kept her left hand, where her jaw-dropping oval diamond engagement ring usually sits, hidden in her pocket.

While it’s unclear exactly what went down during Hailey’s late-night dinner outing with Kendall and Kylie, a separate source tells DailyMail.com that the sisters are ‘desperately’ attempting to stage an intervention for the Baby singer.

‘Kendall’s been desperately trying to persuade Hailey to get a group of their close friends together to do an intervention for Justin,’ they said. ‘She wants to help their marriage.’

Still, the insider noted that Kendall’s efforts to save the couple have been largely unsuccessful, as ‘Hailey says Justin only has minor issues now that he’s in the process of sorting himself out.’

The Peaches singer was filmed snapping at ‘money grabbing’ photographers during a tense encounter in Palm Springs ahead of Coachella music festival this weekend.

Rubbing his fingers together in a money gesture, he ranted to photographers: ‘You just want money, money, money, money, money! Get out of here bro!’

Last month, he also appeared hollow eyed and gaunt as he played some raw demos for fans during an Instagram livestream.

The couple welcomed their first child together this past summer, son Jack Blues Bieber.
