The Golden State Warriors could not close out their opening-round series against the Houston Rockets on their home floor in San Francisco. A completely tepid offense in the opening stages of the fourth quarter allowed the Rockets to build a final lead that wound up being insurmountable for Golden State. Next up? Game 7 on the road in Houston.

While the season is far from done for the Warriors, who at one point led this series three games to one, Houston certainly has the momentum and home court on its side (though that home court factor for Game 7s has mysteriously disappeared in recent years).

Stephen Curry’s son, Canon, was torn up over the loss, representing the emotions of all of Dub Nation. His dad came over to console him, which you can see here:

As much as it’s heartbreaking, yet relatable to see a young child devastated over their favorite sports team’s performance, it’s awesome to see Curry ride the emotional highs and lows, bringing his family along with him.

One of the biggest stars in the game is also just a dad trying to impress his kids at the end of the day.

Canon Curry Steals the Spotlight After Warriors’ Heartbreaking Game 6 Loss

In the aftermath of a tough Game 6 loss, it wasn’t the players on the court who stole the spotlight—it was little Canon Curry, the young son of NBA star Stephen Curry and his wife, Ayesha. As the Golden State Warriors came up short, losing their bid for the championship, Canon’s reaction spoke volumes, echoing the sentiments of every die-hard Warriors fan in the arena.

The scene was nothing short of heart-wrenching. The Warriors, having fought valiantly all season long, found themselves at the end of their championship journey after a crushing defeat. Fans, players, and staff were all reeling from the outcome. Yet, amid the disappointment, one moment stood out as a beacon of emotion, a tender glimpse into the family bond that transcends the game itself.

As Stephen Curry, the team’s star and heart, walked off the court with his head down, trying to process the loss, it was his son, Canon, who captured the attention of those around him. The young boy’s expression seemed to encapsulate the emotions of every fan in the arena—disbelief, sadness, and a sense of loss. His face said it all: the weight of the moment was far too much for a child, and yet, he understood what was at stake.

It’s a rare sight in the world of sports, where emotions often stay locked behind the professionalism of athletes. But in that moment, Canon was a mirror to the many Warriors supporters who had invested so much hope into the team’s success. He wasn’t just a child of an NBA star; he was a young fan, heartbroken like everyone else.

The emotional moment didn’t end there. Canon’s parents, Stephen and Ayesha, rushed to comfort their son as the tears began to flow. In a scene captured on camera, the couple’s devotion to their son was evident as they knelt beside him, offering words of comfort. They are known for their close-knit family bond, and this instance was no different, with both parents tenderly caring for their son in the face of such a public defeat.

But what happened next was even more moving. Canon, his eyes still glistening with tears, looked up at his father and shared something that left Stephen visibly emotional. According to those close to the family, Canon expressed that, despite the loss, he was proud of his father and the team. He said, “It’s okay, Dad. You did your best.” These simple words were a reminder of the deep connection between father and son, as well as the values Stephen has instilled in him.

In that moment, Stephen Curry was not just the leader of the Warriors, a seasoned player with multiple MVPs to his name, but a father who was deeply moved by the unconditional love and support of his child. It was a rare glimpse into the personal life of an NBA icon, one that not only shows his dedication on the court but also his devotion as a parent.

Canon’s words hit hard, and not just for Stephen. They resonated with fans who, in their disappointment, found solace in the love shared within the Curry family. The emotional scene reminded everyone that, at the end of the day, basketball is just a game, and family is what truly matters. Canon, with his innocent and heartfelt words, seemed to put the loss into perspective, showing that sometimes, the smallest gestures have the biggest impact.

For Stephen, it was a bittersweet moment. As he processed the end of the Warriors’ playoff run, he also saw the unconditional love of his son, who reminded him that despite the outcome on the court, their bond would remain unshaken. Stephen’s ability to stay strong for his team was matched only by his love for his family, and in this instance, his son’s simple words provided the comfort he needed.

While the Warriors’ loss may have left a void for fans, it was moments like these that proved there’s more to sports than just wins and losses. It’s the relationships, the moments of pure emotion, and the love of family that truly define the experience.

As the Curry family walked off the court, hand in hand, it was clear that they had faced the loss together, stronger than ever. Canon Curry, in his innocence, reminded everyone of what truly matters: love, family, and the unwavering support that always carries us through, no matter the score.
