The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal why Michael was suddenly absent from GMA and when viewers could expect him to return.

A source told The U.S. Sun Michael will be taking a few days off after a jam-packed weekend.

The television personality was at the 20th Annual Dick Vitale Gala on Friday in Sarasota, Florida and at Formula 1 in Miami on Sunday.

He will be back to GMA later in the week, the insider revealed.

SUNSHINE STATE

Michael spent the weekend in the Sunshine State.

On Friday, he spoke at the cancer awareness event in honor of his daughter Isabella, who is in remission from brain cancer.

He captioned a video of his emotional speech, “The real superheroes are those who fight cancer, and their stories deserve to be told. @isabellastrahan, you are my superhero!!

“I love you, and while you’re back at college finishing up finals, I was deeply honored to be recognized—carrying your strength and spirit with me every step of the way. Proud dad moment!

“Last night marked the 20th Annual Dick Vitale Gala, which has now raised over $100 MILLION for pediatric cancer research through the V Foundation’s Dick Vitale Pediatric Cancer Research Fund.”

Then on Sunday, Michael enjoyed a day at the track to watch F1.

The absence comes as Michael’s future with the morning show is uncertain.

Earlier this year, NewsNation reported Michael could leave Good Morning America when his contract is up.

“He will be out by this summer — he’s had enough,” an insider told the outlet.

However, a source told The U.S. Sun, “Several higher ups at ABC say this isn’t true.”

Good Morning America airs on ABC from 7-9am EST, Monday through Friday. The show has a panel of anchors who discuss the week’s events and current news. The anchors who appear on the morning show include:

Another source said, “There’s no truth that I’m aware of that about this at this current juncture. That piece is strictly speculative rumor mill stuff.

“If you just read it, it just sounds like someone with a very specific point of view and a very specific desire to make things suddenly complicated for GMA.”

In addition to GMA, the former NFL hosts Fox NFL Sunday, The $100,000 Pyramid and runs multiple businesses.
