Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Stephen Curry has struggled to get calls to begin his squad’s first-round playoff series against the Houston Rockets. Ahead of Saturday’s Game 3 home showdown, Warriors fans proposed a solution to help the two-time MVP attain more trips to the free-throw line.

In Games 1 and 2, Curry shot only six free throws, connecting on all of them. However, fans have pointed to several instances when the 11-time All-Star was seemingly fouled to no avail while trying to get freed up for outside shots.

This included Rockets shooting guard Jalen Green grabbing and shoving him at the top of the arc in the first quarter of Game 1. He also converted a 3-pointer through contact from Houston point guard Fred VanVleet late in the first half of Game 2, with the no-call trend frustrating many.

On Thursday, a Golden State fan page on X suggested a remedy to Curry’s officiating dilemma. The user shared a 2023 news headline about the Los Angeles Lakers filing a complaint with the league office regarding referees’ officiating of superstar forward LeBron James.

The Lakers’ grievance reportedly featured “various clips showing what they believed to be clear illegal contact by [Miami] Heat defenders against James that went unnoticed by the referees.”

According to the fan page, the Warriors should implement the same strategy so that Curry receives a more favorable whistle.

“Warriors have to do this with Steph…” the user wrote.

Warriors fans on X concurred, with several noting that the sharpshooter has an extensive case against the officials.

“90 hour tape if they do it with steph,” one fan said.

“Video would be too long. Could put a 20 minute compilation together just from the first 2 games,” another quipped.

“Real talk,” one wrote.

“1 hour video,” another remarked.

Additionally, even a non-Warriors fan agreed that referees regularly disrespect Curry.

“As a Bron fan watching the way curry is held coming off of screens and PNR is something I have never ever seen before. It’s actually insane,” the user shared.

While Curry hasn’t received many trips to the line, he has still made his presence felt through two postseason outings. The four-time NBA champion is averaging a team-best 25.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.0 steals, and 4.5 3-pointers per game, shooting an efficient 52.9%.

Following Wednesday’s 109-94 Game 2 road loss, Warriors coach Steve Kerr commended Curry for his effort, noting that he needs more help.

“He did a great job, “Kerr said. “We just didn’t have enough tonight.” Curry and Co. will look to take a pivotal 2-1 series lead during Saturday’s Game 3 clash at Chase Center.
