Emphasizing the urgency, she added, “It would be a gift to the Democrats to allow them to shut down the government and, therefore, shut down the momentum that President Trump and Republicans have built over the last seven weeks.”

The continuing resolution (C.R.) in question seeks to temporarily extend current federal funding levels while curbing new spending. According to Leavitt, it allows for key government functions to continue, notably enabling ICE agents and border patrol officers to sustain deportation efforts, while also supporting President Trump’s mission to identify waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal bureaucracy.

Republicans argue that the C.R. is essential to upholding the agenda voters supported in November. “On November 5th, the American people gave Republicans and President Trump a historic, overwhelming mandate to govern,” Leavitt declared. She further stressed that passing the resolution would empower the administration to continue cutting wasteful programs and hold the government accountable.

Despite internal GOP disagreements in recent weeks, Republican leadership is projecting a unified front. President Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and Cabinet members have reportedly been in constant contact to coordinate legislative strategy. However, outside threats are complicating the picture.

“Why is the Department of Agriculture funding transgender studies to the tune of millions of dollars?” she questioned, expressing frustration over misaligned priorities in federal agencies.

Leavitt praised Cabinet members like Secretary Brooke Rollins for their relentless efforts. “She was working over the weekend, posting about millions of dollars in contracts that she found. Everyone is onboard with identifying this waste,” Leavitt said.
