Lamborghini Aventador SVJ has an engine cover issue while running

There are more than 200 vehicles subject to the recall, with an estimated defect rate of 100%.

The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a recall notice regarding Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Coupes manufactured between July 4, 2018 and January 15, 2021. NHTSA said the engine cover may suddenly open while driving, in some cases even separating from the vehicle.

A total of 221 Aventador SVJ Coupes are subject to the recall, equivalent to 100% of vehicles manufactured during this period.

The cause of the above defect is that the plastic hinge parts of the engine cover may deform when exposed to excessively high temperatures, which affects the tightening force of the screws, leading to the risk of the engine cover loosening while operating.

Owners of the recalled Aventador SVJs will be contacted by Lamborghini dealers to replace the hinge screws around mid-April. All repair costs will be covered by Lamborghini.
