Tesla’s properties were attacked in protest against billionaire Elon Musk

Cybertrucks caught fire. Tesla showrooms were firebombed. Properties bearing the logo of the electric car company run by billionaire Elon Musk are being vandalized across the US and abroad.

While no casualties have been reported, multiple Tesla showrooms , parking lots, charging stations and private vehicles have been targeted.

The number of attacks has clearly increased since President Donald Trump took office and gave billionaire Musk the authority to oversee the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to cut staff.

During Trump’s first term, his family’s properties in New York City, Washington and elsewhere became gathering places for protesters. In the early days of his second term, Tesla became the place to go.

“Tesla is an easy target. They’re running on our streets. They have dealerships in our neighborhoods,” said Randy Blazak, a sociologist who studies political violence.

Dozens of peaceful protests have taken place at Tesla dealerships and factories across North America and Europe. Some Tesla owners, including a US senator who has fallen out with Musk, have said they will sell their cars.

Such attacks keep law enforcement busy. Last month, prosecutors in Colorado charged a woman in connection with a series of attacks on a Tesla dealership, including throwing Molotov cocktails and spray-painting “Nazi cars” on the walls.

Last week, federal agents in South Carolina arrested a man accused of setting fire to Tesla charging stations near Charleston. Authorities found anti-government writings and DOGE in the man’s bedroom and wallet.

Similar incidents have been reported in left-leaning cities like Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, where anti-Trump and anti-Musk sentiment is running high.

An Oregon man was arrested after throwing multiple Molotov cocktails at a Tesla store in Salem, then returning a day later and shooting through the windows. In the Portland suburb of Tigard, a Tesla showroom was hit by dozens of bullets last week, damaging cars and windows.

Earlier this month, four Cybertrucks were set on fire in a Tesla parking lot in Seattle. Over the weekend, a man poured gasoline on an empty Tesla Model S, causing a fire on a Seattle street.

In Las Vegas, several Tesla vehicles were set on fire early on March 19 outside a Tesla service center, where the word “resist” was spray-painted red on the building’s front door. Authorities said at least one person threw a Molotov cocktail and fired multiple shots at the vehicles.
