“I know Jay-Z is smart enough to know that’s wrong”: The Exact Moment Candace Owens Lost Respect For Jay-Z and Appreciated Kanye West More

Candace Owens explained losing respect for Jay-Z over a critical incident while praising Kanye West’s unwavering stance on truth.

Amid the ongoing chaos surrounding Jay-Z, following the arrest of P Diddy, political commentator Candace Owens’ take on Shawn Carter resurfaced. Claiming to be grateful for his musical contribution and his influence on people, Owens then reflected on the moment she lost respect for Carter, and gained faith over Kanye West.

Highlighting incidents from Jay-Z’s career, where he chose his fame and popularity over being a positive influence for Black Americans, Candace Owens called out the famous rapper. She then threw the spotlight on Kanye West as a comparison and mentioned how he never took a step back from saying what’s right, even if he lost followers.

One incident was enough for Candace Owens to lose respect for Jay-Z 

Way ahead of P Diddy’s arrest for s*x trafficking and pr*stitution, which later dragged Jay-Z into the list of perpetrators, due to his friendship with the disgraced rapper and involvement in the freak parties, Candace Owens had warned people about the Takeover singer. During her appearance on The George Janko Show on March 2, Owens explained her reason behind losing respect for Shawn Carter.

While claiming to be grateful for Jay-Z’s music and praising the rapper’s wit based on the lyrics of his songs, Candace Owens reflected on one incident where the rapper seemingly failed his fans. Stating how Shawn Carter and Beyoncé should have been a positive influence on the Black Americans, Owens noted how the duo chose to be politically correct, to maintain their fame and popularity.

There’s a lot in Jay-Z’s music that I am so grateful for… So many of his lyrics talking about you know… like how are they benefitting off of me, my brain, he’s thinking like a boss, but then he gets up on stage and him and his wife tell people to vote for Hilary Clinton.

I know Jay-Z is smart enough to know that’s wrong, I know he’s smart enough for those as I listen to the DNA of his music, so if you got out, why don’t you tell other people how to get out, and that’s when I lost respect for Jay-Z. 

Stating how one political incident was enough for her to judge and recognize Jay-Z as a human being, Candace Owens claimed to have lost respect for the rapper. Instead, she mentioned gaining newfound faith and respect for Kanye West.

Steering away from Jay-Z, who’s now facing accusations of r*ping a minor in 2000, and making headlines surrounding his illegitimate son, Candace Owens threw the spotlight on Kanye West. Addressing how West is known for his controversial remarks, much like her, Owens praised the rapper for speaking his mind, rather than being politically correct like Shawn Carter.

Reflecting on how Kanye West put on the MAGA hat in 2018 and chose to support Donald Trump, and then once again reaffirmed his support for Trump in 2019, Candace Owens mentioned that it was a huge moment for Black Americans. Further, addressing how it led West to lose several followers, Owens highlighted how the rapper still chose to stand for what was right.

[That’s] what made me gain more respect for Kanye because he is willing to say stuff that makes him unfavorable in Hollywood or I think Jay-Z really cares about what Hollywood thinks about him.

When he put on the MAGA hat, it was a very significant moment for Black America, you do not have to vote Democrat. He lost so many fans for saying that… and I commend that bravery. 

During the interview on The George Janko Show, Candace Owens also addressed her experience with motherhood, her switch from liberal to conservative, and reflected on the landscape for Black artists in the music industry, among other topics.
