Demi Moore’s 1-Word Message Immediately After Losing Best Actress at the Oscars

On Sunday night at the Academy Awards, Mikey Madison took home the best actress award for her portrayal of a sex worker who marries the son of a Russian oligarch.

Following the win, Madison admitted, “This is very surreal. I grew up in Los Angeles, but Hollywood always felt so far away from me, so to be here, standing in this room today, is really incredible.”

The “Scream” actress also sent a message to her fellow nominees, including Demi Moore of “The Substance,” Fernanda Torres for “I’m Still Here,” “Emilia Pérez” star Karla Sofía Gascón and “Wicked” actress Cynthia Erivo.

“I also just want to recognize the thoughtful, intelligent, beautiful, breathtaking work of my fellow nominees. I’m honored to be recognized alongside all of you,” she said, adding, “This is a dream come true. I’m probably going to wake up tomorrow.”

Moments before Madison was announced as the winner, cameras were set on all five women and revealed their immediate reactions to the news. All of the nominees had different reactions to Madison’s name being read, but Moore seemed to be crushed by the loss.

A video appeared to show Moore uttering the word, “Nice,” through a clenched jaw, as pointed out by Page Six.

According to a report from Page Six, Moore is “thrilled” for Madison.

“The A-list actress, 62, ‘is thrilled for Mikey and all the other women who were nominated for this award,’” Page Six wrote about its source. “But of course, it was a huge disappointment not hearing her name be called.”

“Demi is taking this loss very hard because she felt like this was finally her chance to take home an Academy Award,” a source told Page Six.
