Lady Gaga pokes fun at ‘Joker 2’ in self-deprecating ‘SNL’ opening monologue.
“My Razzie brings me one step closer to an EGORT. It’s like an EGOT, but it’s hurtful”

Lady Gaga poked fun at the much-maligned Joker: Folie à Deux during her Saturday Night Live opening monologue – watch below.
The popstar was pulling double duty on SNL on Saturday (March 8), hosting as well as serving as musical guest. As part of the former role, she delivered the show’s monologue, which saw her make herself the butt of the joke.
She acknowledged that the 2024 sequel film, in which she starred opposite Joaquin Phoenix as Harley ‘Lee’ Quinzel, was not met with universal acclaim. “Anyway, I’m an actor now!” she said. “And I’ve been very diligent about selecting films that would showcase my craft as a serious actor. Films such as Joker 2…apparently, people thought it was awesome.”
Watch the four-minute monologue here:
“Joaquin and I even got nominated for a Razzie,” she continued. “Which is an award for the worst films of the year. So, we won for Worst On-Screen Duo. But, joke’s on them – I love winning things! And my Razzie brings me one step closer to an EGORT. It’s like an EGOT, but it’s hurtful.”
It was Gaga’s second time hosting SNL, something she also referenced in the monologue. “The last time I hosted was in 2013, and every aspect of my performance aged amazingly. There’s no need to Google ‘SNL 2013, Lady Gaga featuring R. Kelly.’”
She concluded by saying: “In all seriousness, I am from New York City, so hosting SNL is so special to me, I respect everyone here so much, so tonight, I promise to act, to sing, and to not do Joker 3.”
Later in the show, Gaga performed two tracks from her new album ‘Mayhem’, which was released on Friday (March 7), in the form of ‘Abracadabra’ and ‘Killah’.
NME have awarded ‘Mayhem’ four stars, noting: “Ultimately, ‘Mayhem’ feels like a great Gaga album because it’s just so much fun. At times, it’s a bit like reconnecting with an old friend who makes sense even when they seem to be chatting nonsense.”
“When she sings “river in my eyes, I’ve got a poem in my throat” on ‘LoveDrug’, it’s just her overblown way of saying she’s sad and tongue-tied. Seventeen years after she broke through with ‘Just Dance’, Lady Gaga remains pop’s foremost agent of impeccably crafted chaos.”
She has also announced giant shows in Mexico City’s Estadio GNP Seguros in April and Rio’s Copacabana Beach in May.
