True to its name, the Koenigsegg Agera RS Chimera is a “patchwork” of the most outstanding features of the regular Agera RS, CC850 and Jesko for a very special customer.
In Greek mythology, the Chimera was a monster with the head of a lion, the body of a goat, and the tail of a dragon/serpent that could breathe fire. Because of this bizarre hybrid, the word “chimera” has now been used to describe any mythical or fictional creature that has parts taken from multiple animals ; or more generally, any hybrid. As the name suggests, the Koenigsegg Agera RS Chimera is a “patchwork” of the best parts of the regular Agera RS, CC850, and Jesko for a very special customer.
Originally, the Chimera was one of 25 regular Agera RSs that Koenigsegg produced between 2015 and 2018. But it was the owner Mohammed Ben Sulayem – President of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) who asked and challenged the company’s founder and CEO, Christian von Koenigsegg, to transform it into the current Chimera. The reason Sulayem did this, in addition to liking “unique items”, was because he also owned and ordered both the CC850 and the Jesko.
It looks like an Agera RS, but the Chimera is powered by a Jesko twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8. Filled with standard 95-octane fuel, it produces 1,280 horsepower. Or Mohammed Ben Sulayem can use E85 bioethanol to unlock the full 1,600 horsepower.
The car’s transmission is the same LST as the CC850, capable of shifting automatically through 9 gears like the Jesko but also using sensors and actuators to simulate force feedback and precise feel through a simulated 6-speed manual mode. And because the Agera is smaller and lighter than the Jesko, it’s about 100kg lighter overall.
Only one Chimera was created specifically for Mohammed Ben Sulayem and has been delivered to him, so the price of the car has not been announced. But certainly, apart from the relationship to convince Christian von Koenigsegg to “customize” it according to his request, owning a similar car requires several million USD or more.
La supercar Koenigsegg Agera RS Chimera est composée de nombreux détails spéciaux provenant d’autres modèles Koenigsegg tels que la Jesko et la CC850.
