Barbra Streisand, Whoopi Goldberg, Kate McKinnon Among Audie Award Winners: See the Full List!

Streisand notably took home the awards for the highly-contested Audiobook of the Year and Best Autobiography/Memoir with her novel ‘My Name Is Barbra’

The 2025 Audie Awards was a star-studded affair — with several Hollywood A-listers and notable authors taking some of the evening’s top honors.

The Audio Publishers Association held their 30th annual Audie Awards at Pier Sixty in New York City where the APA honored numerous celebrities including Kate McKinnon, 41, Whoopi Goldberg, 69, and Barbra Streisand, 82, and longtime authors like Stephen King, for their audiobook work.

The Funny Girl star notably took home the awards for both the highly-contested Audiobook of the Year and Best Autobiography/Memoir with her novel My Name Is Barbra. Though Streisand was not able to attend the awards, Penguin Random House Audio’s Karen Dziekonski accepted on her behalf and opened up about the recording process with the Oscar-winning actress.

“Every recording session with Barbra was an absolute open door into her process,” Dziekonski said during the awards ceremony. “It showed what a steadfast and committed artist that she is. And a remarkable human being.”

Goldberg, who earned Best Narration for her narration of her novel Bits and Pieces, also had a sentimental moment on the stage as she expressed her gratitude to all the narrators in the room who have helped her discover new stories through the audiobook format.

“You all should know that I probably have each and every one of you in my phone because I have ten thousand audiobooks,” Goldberg said. “I grew up dyslexic so hearing things read to me is heaven.”

Other winners included McKinnon, who received the award for Best Humor for her novel The Millicent Quibb School of Etiquette for Young Ladies of Mad Science. James, written by author and professor Percival Everett and narrated by Dominic Hoffman took home the award for Best Literary Fiction & Classics, while There’s Always This Year written and narrated by poet and essayist Hanif Abdurraqib took home Best Non-Fiction.

In other genres, Bookshops & Bonedust by written and narrated by Travis Baldree took home Best Fantasy, while Rednecks written by Taylor Brown and narrated by Ramiz Monsef took home Best Fiction. This Could Be Us by Kennedy Ryan and narrated by Ines del Castillo and Jakobi Diem was honored for Best Romance and Lone Wolf written by Gregg Hurwitz and narrated by Scott Brick received the award for Best Thriller/Suspense.

King’s latest collection, You Like It Darker: Stories — which was narrated by him and Will Patton — won in the category of Best Short Stories/Collections, while The Book of Doors written by Gareth Brown and narrated by Miranda Raison was honored for Best Science Fiction.

Best Audio Drama went to George Orwell’s 1984, which was adapted by Joe White and performed by a lengthy list of A-listers including Andrew Garfield, Cynthia Erivo, Andrew Scott and Tom Hardy. Julia Whelan won Best Fiction Narrator for Kristin Hannah’s The Women and Justin Vivian Bond’s narration of Cynthia Carr’s Candy Darling won Best Non-Fiction Narrator.
