On the night that Brazilian cinema experienced its moment of glory with the victory of “I’m Still Here” in the category of Best International Film at the Oscar® 2025 , one absence in the final list of winners caught attention.

” A Complete Stranger “, a biopic about Bob Dylan , entered the awards ceremony competing for 8 statuettes : Best Film, Director, Actor, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Adapted Screenplay, Sound and Costume Design. But the production, starring Timothée Chalamet, left empty-handed – as did the actor, who was also competing in his category.

The film, which premiered in Brazil last Thursday (27), tells the beginning of the career of the singer and composer, who is one of the biggest names in music and known for representing a new generation of folk. The plot goes up to 1965, when he decides to exchange his famous acoustic guitar for an electric guitar in a concert that went down in history.

The film also covers Dylan’s move to New York to try to contact his idol Woody Guthrie. There, his career takes off and becomes a worldwide sensation, with chart-topping songs and sold-out shows.

The cast also includes names such as Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro, Boyd Holbrook and Scoot McNairy. This is considered Fanning’s first major film in the last four years.
