Taylor Swift’s ex Joe Alwyn throws his ‘hat in the ring’ to play next James Bond

Joe Alwyn, Taylor Swift’s ex-boyfriend who also starred in the Hulu adaptation of the Sally Rooney novel “Conversations With Friends,” said he’s game to play the next James Bond.

During the 2025 Oscars Sunday, Variety asked Alwyn, 34, if he would want to play the next James Bond now that Daniel Craig is finished.

“Oh, wow. Who wouldn’t throw their hat in the ring? You know?” he said.

Alwyn attended the Oscars as part of the cast of the nominated movie “The Brutalist.” Adrien Brody won Best Actor for the drama, but it lost the Best Picture and Best Director races to “Anora.”

There have been 25 James Bond movies since 1962. The titular character has been portrayed by seven actors: Sean Connery, David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig.

Craig, 57, made his last outing as Bond in 2021’s “No Time To Die.”

Recently, the 007 world had a shakeup, as longtime Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have ceded control of the James Bond franchise to Amazon.

The Broccoli family have been in charge since 1962’s “Dr. No.”

“My respect, admiration and love for Barbara and Michael remain constant and undiminished,” 56-year-old Craig, who played 007 in five films, told Variety in reaction to the news.

“I wish Michael a long, relaxing (and well-deserved) retirement, and whatever ventures Barbara goes on to do, I know they will be spectacular and I hope I can be part of them.”

The 97th Academy Awards included a Bond tribute during the Conan O’Brien-hosted ceremony.

Former Bond girl Halle Berry, 58, who starred as Jinx in the 2002 flick “Die Another Day,” came out onstage.

“I had the great pleasure of working with Barbara and Michael on ‘Die Another Day,’ ” the actress said. “And let me tell you, they don’t just produce Bond movies, they were the heart and soul of this franchise for decades.”

She added, “Every generation does have its Bond, you know. The world revolves, it evolves and so does he. But that signature mix of danger, style and intrigue? Well, now, that’s timeless.”

Blackpink’s Lisa, Doja Cat and Margaret Qualley then came out to perform songs from the franchise.

In a recent interview with The Post, “Outlander” star Sam Heughan also weighed in on whether he’d want to play James Bond.

“I know every British actor that’s ever worn a suit is probably talked about [in connection with the Bond role] at some point,” he said.

But, fresh off the heels of playing Jamie Fraser on eight seasons of “Outlander,” he admitted that James Bond is “an iconic character” — and so is Fraser.

“I don’t know if I’d go from one iconic character to the next. Certainly, it would be a great undertaking. But look, I’m a huge fan of James Bond,” Heughan said.
