The Weeknd has announced a second Las Vegas stadium show for his ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ North American tour, due to high demand for tickets.
In January, the musician shared details of a massive North American tour, taking place across stadiums later this year. The tour will take place from May to September 2025, stopping in cities including Houston, Nashville, Chicago, Vancouver and Atlanta.
The Weeknd is scheduled to play in Las Vegas on July 5; however, due to high demand, an extra show has been added to Vegas for July 4.
The tour news came following the release of the singer’s long-anticipated album ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’. The record marks the third and final chapter of the singer’s ‘Dawn FM’ trilogy and arrived today after being delayed last week.
The Weeknd – real name Abel Tesfaye – is set to play new songs from ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’, ‘After Hours’, and ‘Dawn FM’, as well as hits from across the remainder of his catalogue.
Both Playboi Carti and Mike Dean will be joining the singer as special guests. For the tour, The Weeknd has partnered with Global Citizen and $1 from every ticket sold will be donated to support children from vulnerable communities around the world. ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ was given a four-star review from NME and described as “a fitting – and intriguing – swansong”.
“Though ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ has plenty of his usual moody synth-pop, it’s also speckled with experimentation: he pulls off throbbing Brazilian funk on ‘São Paulo’ and flirts with Kanye-style chipmunk soul on ‘Niagara Falls’,” it reads.
“If this is a swansong for The Weeknd, it’s a fitting one. Tesfaye is pushing forward before he exhausts the collective fascination with his alter ego, and that’s no small achievement.”
In other The Weeknd-related news, he ended a years-long boycott of the Grammy Awards by surprising fans with a performance, playing ‘Cry For Me’ and ‘Timeless’, the latter of which saw him joined on stage by rapper Playboi Carti.
In 2021, The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) declared he will boycott the Grammys, and will not allow his label to submit his music for awards consideration. The boycott came after he was not nominated at all that year despite releasing his album ‘After Hours’ in 2020.
