2025 Toyota 4Runner render

The all-new sixth-generation Toyota 4Runner has just begun to arrive at dealerships, but what if this off-road SUV was upgraded for the end of the world? The result comes from illustrator jlord8 on Instagram, and it’s an armored behemoth that merges the reliability of the 4Runner with the aggressive stance of the Rezvani tank.

The Rezvani Tank is an armored SUV based on the Jeep Wrangler, so it already has immense off-road capability due to its solid front and rear axles and locking differentials. The Toyota 4Runner has an independent front suspension setup, but we think it’d be swapped out for a solid axle up front if this illustration were real. The 4Runner’s heritage “TOYOTA” grille and integrated light bar fit nicely with the Rezvani’s boxy proportions, and the TRD wheels are wrapped in massive all-terrain tires.

Rezvani started building the Tank in 2017. It’s powered by a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 that’s upgraded to make a massive 1,000 horsepower, which would be a welcome replacement for the Toyota 4Runner’s turbocharged 2.4-liter hybrid 4-cylinder engine, which produces less than 400 horsepower. Or, maybe during the apocalypse you’d want the reliability of Toyota’s powertrain.

The 4Runner’s hybrid setup is standard on its top two halo models, the TRD Pro and Trailhunter, and we’ll let you choose which suspension setup this beast goes with. The TRD Pro uses Fox QS3 adjustable dampers for high-speed off-roading through the desert, while the Trailhunter uses heavy-duty shocks from Old Man Emu to support the weight of overlanding gear. Both sound like great setups for the apocalypse.

Either way, this collab would make the ideal apocalyptic go-anywhere, do-anything rig. Toyota’s proven reliability and off-road capability, paired with an armored, bulletproof body, is the perfect recipe for the world’s end.
