Jeremy Renner on what he saw when he ‘died’ in snowplow accident… he’s now certain death isn’t the end
Jeremy Renner has told of the ‘electric serenity’ he felt in the moments he was left clinically dead following his horrific 2023 snowplow accident.
The experience left him not only unafraid of death, but filled with a profound sense of peace.
In a revelation that is sending shockwaves across Hollywood and beyond, actor Jeremy Renner has opened up about the chilling yet strangely peaceful experience he had when he clinically died following the now-infamous snowplow accident in early 2023. Known for his roles in The Avengers and The Hurt Locker, Renner now says he’s certain: death is not the end—and he’s never been more at peace with that idea.
The Accident That Nearly Took His Life
It was New Year’s Day 2023 when Renner, 52, was involved in a freak snowplow accident at his Nevada property. He had been trying to help a family member free a car stuck in the snow when his 14,000-pound Sno-Cat machine began to roll. In his attempt to stop it, Renner was pulled under the massive vehicle.
The aftermath was brutal: over 30 broken bones, a collapsed lung, and severe chest trauma. Doctors confirmed that his heart stopped—at least briefly. “I know I flatlined,” Renner admits. “I was gone.”
“It Was Electric… and Serene”
What happened during those fleeting moments of clinical death changed Renner forever.
“I felt myself leave my body,” he told Men’s Health in a candid new interview. “But there was no panic. No pain. Just this… electric serenity. That’s the only way I can describe it. Like being held by the universe.”
Renner describes a realm filled with light, but not blinding. He says he wasn’t greeted by angels or a tunnel, but rather a presence—something deeply loving and calming. “It felt like something, or someone, was telling me: It’s okay. You can let go if you want to. But you still have work to do.”
No Longer Afraid
Coming back from the brink has given the actor a powerful perspective on life—and death.
“I’m not afraid to die anymore,” he says, matter-of-factly. “That fear that used to linger in the back of my mind is gone. Because now I know… it’s not the end. There’s more. There’s peace. And maybe even purpose.”
Since his recovery, Renner has doubled down on his philanthropic work and is focusing more on projects that carry emotional or social impact. “I don’t want to just entertain anymore,” he adds. “I want to matter.”
A Newfound Appreciation for the Present
While his brush with death brought him clarity about the afterlife, it also reminded him how precious every second is here and now.
“Everything tastes better, feels deeper,” Renner reflects. “A hug from my daughter? That’s a miracle. A sunrise? That’s a gift. I almost missed it all.”
Friends close to the actor have described him as “reborn,” not just physically but spiritually. “There’s a glow to him now,” one friend notes. “Like someone who’s seen the other side and decided to make every moment count.”
From Superhero to Survivor
It’s not lost on fans that Jeremy Renner—famous for playing Hawkeye, a seemingly indestructible superhero—has now become a real-life symbol of survival and hope.
In a world often clouded by cynicism and fear, Renner’s story is a stark reminder that even in the face of unimaginable trauma, something beautiful can emerge. Strength. Clarity. Even serenity.
“I used to think I was tough because I did my own stunts,” Renner laughs. “Now I know real toughness is choosing to live fully, love fiercely, and not be afraid.”
Hollywood’s Reaction
Renner’s revelations have stunned fans and peers alike. Messages of support and awe flooded social media following the release of his interview. Fellow Marvel stars, including Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson, have reached out publicly, calling his recovery and insight “nothing short of miraculous.”
“He’s always been the heart of our team,” said Hemsworth in a recent podcast. “But now, it’s like he’s become the soul.”
What’s Next for Jeremy Renner?
Though he’s back to work, Renner admits he’s no longer chasing fame or box office numbers. “I want to create stories that heal. That open people up,” he said. “Because I’ve been opened up in the most brutal, beautiful way.”
His upcoming documentary project is rumored to explore near-death experiences and what people believe lies beyond. “This isn’t just my story,” Renner emphasizes. “So many people have crossed that line and come back. Maybe it’s time we stop being afraid to talk about it.”
Jeremy Renner nearly lost his life under a 7-ton machine. But in that near-fatal moment, he found something few ever do: a glimpse of what might come next—and the peace that can come with it.
And now? He’s not just surviving. He’s thriving. Enlightened. Fearless. Alive.
