John Isner and Steve Johnson Break Silence on Djokovic’s Wimbledon Chances – You Won’t Expect Their Verdict!

Djokovic/Isner/Johnson split

John Isner and Steven Johnson discuss where Novak Djokovic has the best chance of winning another Grand Slam.

The 37-year-old has 24 majors to his name, more than any other male in the history of the game.

But Novak Djokovic has not won a Grand Slam since the 2023 US Open, and 2024 marked his first year without winning a major since 2017.

Now the Serbian is searching for a magical 25th major, which is proving to be one of the biggest challenges of his career.

John Isner and Steve Johnson debate if Novak Djokovic can win Wimbledon in 2025

The closest Djokovic came to winning another Grand Slam was the 2024 Wimbledon Championships.

Despite battling a knee injury, he reached the final, which was a rematch against Carlos Alcaraz from a year earlier.

The result was the same as Djokovic succumbed to defeat and Alcaraz retained his title at the All-England Club.

As Djokovic continues to compete in the latter stages of his career and search for another major, John Isner and Steve Johnson think Wimbledon is where Djokovic’s greatest chance of success at a Grand Slam.

“I would say Wimbledon would be his best chance if he can get through the first week basically unscathed with a bunch of straight setters and maybe get some luck of the draw in the quarters and semis,” Johnson said via the Nothing major podcast.

“He just needs to get to the end of the two weeks with a bit more juice in his step. I just feel like he is going to run out of gas at some point but I think Wimbledon would be his best chance of getting that title.”

John Isner added: “I am with you. I hope I am wrong here, but it seems like he has two chances left to win a Grand Slam in the rest of his career – Wimbledon and the US Open. It just seems like that.

“Next year is tough, he is getting older [from the Australian Open]. We know how well he takes care of his body, but it just seems like I am talking about as far as his career goes. The question was his level in Miami, if he can serve like that then he absolutely can win Wimbledon.

“He had one match where he had 83% first serve, he is not going to keep that level up, but if he can serve over 65% first serves at Wimbledon he can certainly win that tournament this year.

“It just seems like 2025 is his last opportunity to win a slam, it’s either going to happen at Wimbledon or the US Open. I hope I am wrong, it would be amazing to see him turn back the clock and win a slam in 2026, but it just seems like that from my perspective.”

What is Novak Djokovic’s Wimbledon record?

Djokovic made his Wimbledon debut in 2005 and has played at the tournament on 19 occasions.

He has won 97 matches at SW19 and lost just 12, giving him an impressive win percentage of 89%.

Djokovic has won the Wimbledon title on seven occasions, which is the joint-second highest tally among male players with Pete Sampras.

In 2025 Djokovic will aim for his eighth title which would draw him level with Roger Federer for the most number of Wimbledon titles by a male player in the game’s history.
