Jennifer Aniston almost missed out on ‘Friends’

One of the biggest stars of Friends was Aniston. People started getting her character’s haircut just to look like her. However, she almost missed out on the role that led to her becoming a household name.

Aniston filmed a couple of episodes of a show called Muddling Through. Casting wanted Aniston to play Rachel, but it wouldn’t work with her schedule doing the other comedy.

The book, Generation Friends claimed NBC executives scheduled blockbuster TV movies at the same time as Muddling Through to tank the ratings according to The Sun. It worked and Aniston became available for the role.

Aniston thought The Rachel was ugly

Aniston’s hair on the show was a phenomenon. But the actor isn’t a fan of the hairstyle, which was created by hairstylist Chris McMillan.

“I love Chris, and he’s the bane of my existence at the same time because he started that damn Rachel, which was not my best look,” Aniston told Allure. “How do I say this? I think it was the ugliest haircut I’ve ever seen.”

She has admitted that it was very high maintenance and she didn’t know how to manage it on her own. Aniston recently revealed the haircut wasn’t the only thing she turned against when it came to the show.

She wanted the show to stop playing

The show still plays on TV even though it ended in 2004. This was an issue for Aniston and she wanted it to stop.

“I could not get Rachel Green off of my back for the life of me. I could not escape Rachel from Friends, just Rachel from Friends, it’s on all the time and you’re just like, ‘Stop playing this f*cking show,’” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “I completely just fought with myself and who I was in this industry forever because it was just constantly about trying to prove I was more than that.”

Aniston said playing Justine Last in The Good Girl was the first time she did something different from Rachel. She admitted to panicking over it and doubting she could pull it off.

Aniston has done many more roles after Friends since then. She has also agreed to reunite with the cast for a HBO Max special. The special will have the cast revisit different moments of the show and talk about filming together. Chances are Aniston is happy with the show still being so popular now
