Among her aims, Jessie Cave said she hopes to “get out of debt” and “put time into something I never invested in before: self-love.”

Jessie Cave is “ripping up the good little actress rule book.”

The former Harry Potter actress announced that she’s “starting an OnlyFans” in a cheeky video posted today on her Instagram account. In the video, Cave sits on a bed playing with her hair and talking with a man to her right, just off camera. “Hair stuff, so like this,” she says, dividing her hair into sections and brushing it with her fingers.

“Have you read about this? Is this a thing?” the man, presumably Cave’s longtime partner, comedian Alfie Brown, asks. “No,” Cave replies. She goes on to promise “the best quality hair sounds” and “very sensual stuff.” When Brown asks if “people like it in a sexual way,” Cave reasons that “it is a fetish, I think. I hope.

Cave, 37, landed the role of Lavender Brown in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in 2009. She reprised the role for both Deathly Hallows films, launching her from the status of young, local stage actress to rising international star. She went on to appear in Simon Amstell’s Benjamin, episodes of Industry and Black Mirror, and Mike Newell’s adaptation of Great Expectations, which reunited her with Harry Potter costars Helena Bonham Carter and Ralph Fiennes.

The actress also recently launched the Before We Break Up Again podcast with Brown. The most recent of five episodes touches on her OnlyFans announcement. “I am launching an OnlyFans, it’s not a sexual one,” she says. “It’s a fetish. Fetish doesn’t necessarily mean sexual.” As Cave indicated, though the content hosting platform OnlyFans is associated with sexual content, it does not cater exclusively to sexual or sensual content creators.

Cave has also kept a self-titled Substack blog since 2022. In her most recent post, titled “Only Me,” she expounds upon her reasons for starting an OnlyFans. She writes: “One year. I’ll try for one year. My aim? To get the house safe, cover the arsenic/lead wallpaper, build a new roof etc. My aim? To get out of debt. My aim? To empower myself? To prove to those in the past who have misjudged me that I’m not so sweet? To put time into something I never invested in before: self-love.”

“Cosplay? Were my years of Harry Potter conventions in fact research?” she jokes, adding that she feels “like I’m doing something naughty, something a little f—ed up. I like that. Ripping up the good little actress rule book.”

Cave is one of a number of celebrities who have branched out into posting sexually suggestive, or “sensual” content, on OnlyFans.

Lily Allen launched her own page last summer, exclusively for pictures of her feet. “Just dipping my toes in,” she wrote with a wink in the account bio. Sopranos star Drea de Matteo joined the platform in September 2023, saying that her “kids were the ones that were like, ‘Do it.’”

Not every public figure with an OnlyFans uses the platform to post sexual or sensual content. Former X-Men ’97 showrunner and lead writer Beau DeMayo released a lengthy video on the platform last September detailing what he called a “smear campaign” that led to his firing the month before for “egregious” misconduct.
