On Wednesday, the Warriors’ Public Relations team provided an update on Kuminga’s status. After being sidelined for over a month due to a sprained right ankle, Kuminga has returned to practice for the first time since the injury.

Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga, who suffered a sprained right ankle on January 4 vs. Memphis and has missed the last 21 games, returned to team practice this evening at Chase Center for the first time since sustaining the injury. His return to game action will be based on his continued progress and physical readiness,” the statement read.

Nevertheless, Kuminga might not play against the Kings. The report indicates that Kuminga’s return to the court depends on how his ankle responds to further physical activity.

Kuminga’s sprain occurred during the Warriors’ victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on January 4. Despite his injury, the young forward showed determination, playing a vital role in the 121-113 win. In the game, Kuminga contributed 13 points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
