Kim Kardashian is following in mom Kris Jenner’s footsteps as she begins to manage daughter North West’s career—but is she going to take a cut of earnings? Here’s the truth.

Kim Kardashian reveals whether she gets paid the same amount as Kris Jenner for being North West's 'momager'

Like mother, like daughter—to an extent.

While Kris Jenner has proven to be a more than adept momager—helping kids Kim KardashianKhloe KardashianKourtney KardashianKendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner soar to remarkable heights—as Kim begins to step into that role with daughter North West, there are some things she plans to do differently.

“Guess what?” the SKIMS founder joked on the phone to Khloe in the Feb. 20 episode of The Kardashians. “This momager is not taking 10 percent.”

The quip is, of course, a nod to Kris’ longstanding policy of taking a 10 percentcut of her children’s earnings.

Kim’s joke came while deciding whether or not to let North—whom she shares with ex-husband Kanye West, in addition to kids Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 5—perform in The Lion King’s anniversary concert at the Hollywood Bowl last year.

And while viewers know the 11-year-old ultimately took to the stage as Simba to perform “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King” in May, the episode revealed Kim had some trepidations over whether allowing her oldest to take on this opportunity.

“I just can’t decide,” Kim told her sister on the phone, agreeing with Khloé’s point that North isn’t used to singing Broadway songs and that the world can be unkind. “That’s what I’m worried about.”

In a subsequent confessional, Kim expanded on her daughter’s experience. “North is very comfortable performing, but she’s not a singer. She raps, and she’s been on the stage with her dad. But as a mom, especially putting her child on a platform for a lot of opinions, it’s something to really, really, really think about.”

But, as it turns out, neither North nor Kanye shared Kim’s same hesitations, with the Yeezy founder telling his ex, “It sounds cool,” while North immediately said, “Please, Mom, I want to do it.”

The opportunity for her daughter—as huge as it is—also posed a secondary dilemma for Kim. As the 44-year-old joked to Khloé, “I wasn’t planning on being a momager for like another 10 years!”

The business mogul—who, on top of being a reality star, owns multiple businesses and has recently begun to dip her toe into acting—further explained how her kids’ endeavors will one day impact her.

“I still have like 10 years left of work that I want to do,” she noted in a confessional. “Like I still want to be me, you know? I still have more to do.”

After all, when it comes to North, “Every day that she is busy doing something is a day that I can’t work,” Kim explained. “Because she’s not doing anything without me being right there the whole time.”
