Lebron may well continue to play for some more time, but that has not stopped him from putting things in place when he leaves the court for the last time.

He has launched his own powerboat racing team to compete this year in the E1 Series.

The Los Angeles Lakers star first revealed his investment in the sport back in January.

He announced that his AlUlateam will join the likes of Tom Brady and Will Smith in the all-electric powerboat racing series for the 2025 season.

His team includes rally driver Catie Munnings and Rusty Wyatt.

Munnings has reached in rally, Extreme E and the UIM EI World Championship.

The Red Bull athlete started her career at just 18 when she won the 2016 Ladies Championship.

Wyatt, 28, has been a powerboat racer since the age of 12 and in his rookie season won his debut race.

He finished the season as Rookie of the Year and second overall with two more wins.

Wyatt has already spoken about the potential impact of James’ arrival in the sport.

Time for LeBron to retire?

“At the end of the day, I hate to say it, but I believe this in my soul right now – I wish LeBron James would retire.

“Not because I don’t want to see more of LeBron James, not because I don’t appreciate LeBron James.

“But I honestly believe deep down inside, the more LeBron James continues to play the game of basketball, the more it’s going to hurt his legacy and the more it’s going to continue to hurt his GOAT argument.

“As long as he steps foot on that floor, every single season, there’s gonna expectations of him winning a championship.

“And when he don’t do that, we’re gonna be looking at him saying: ‘Well what happened now?’”

ESPN star Kendrick Perkins speaking on First Take about LeBron James’ future in the NBA

He told TMZ: “Anything LeBron does, people are gonna follow.

“He’s such an icon to so many different people.”

James has also revealed he is a lifelong fan of the sport and is “excited” to get started.

He said: “As a lifelong fan of sports and competition, the opportunity to own an E1 team that represents such a high level of innovation in sports is incredibly exciting.

“E1 is a new type of global competition that’s revolutionizing water racing and I’m proud to be at the forefront of its expansion in season two.”

Wyatt is yet to meet James due to the basketball star’s hectic schedule.

But is hopeful that their paths will cross at one of the races, perhaps the event in Miami later this year.
