It marked the first time since the blockbuster trade that sent Doncic and Anthony Davis to new teams. The emotional reunion has turned into a topic of discussion among the fans.

While the highly anticipated reunion drew plenty of attention, Irving’s pregame appearance stole the spotlight before tip-off. An X user shared two photos of Irving wearing a sleek black suit.

Beyond the fashion buzz, Irving took a moment to pay tribute to one of his basketball idols. Before heading into the game, he visited the Kobe Bryant and Gianna Bryant statues outside Crypto.com Arena. The statues were unveiled as a tribute to the Lakers legend and his daughter. It holds deep significance for Irving, who has often spoken about Kobe’s mentorship and impact on his career.

Kyrie Irving Avoids Emotional Reunion Talk Before Facing Doncic

Before the highly anticipated game between the Lakers and the Mavericks, Kyrie Irving shared his thoughts on facing Luka Doncic. Speaking to the media, Irving shared the competitive nature of the game and downplayed the external narratives surrounding Doncic’s return to face his former team.

“High level basketball game. A lot of good players on the floor at once. Outside of just the obvious of us being in L.A., being a former team of Luka’s, obviously the narrative’s already written. I don’t know what else I can really add to that. I’m pretty much focused in telling my guys just to focus on the high level game we’ve got to win,” Irving said.

Despite Irving’s mindset, the Mavericks fell short against the Lakers, who secured a 107-99 victory. In his first game against Dallas since the trade, the former Mavs star put up a triple-double, while Irving led the Mavericks with 35-point performance.
