THE NBA has banned the Milwaukee Bucks from wearing a favourite jersey due to an issue with live TV coverage.

The Bucks introduced a cream colour jersey in 2019.

It proved a hit amongst fans so was brought back for a second time the following season.

But after Covid hit and games returned behind closed doors, a problem was discovered.

Since every game was played in Orlando, no team was able to play home games.

But to give the impression a team was playing at home, the NBA allowed teams to digitally imprint the logos of their arena sponsor on court.

However that proved to be a problem for the Bucks, as their cream jerseys were not compatible.

Every time a player moved over where a sponsor was inserted, their jerseys became invisible, meaning in some cases half their bodies were cut off.

But instead of fixing the technical glitch, the NBA simply decided to ban the jerseys.

The Bucks boast a 35-26 record this season and have a four-match winning streak after beating the Dallas Mavericks 137-107.

The NBA has been strict with their rules in recent years and they have overseen a big clampdown this season.

Players have been banned from using their cell phones since the start of the campaign.

It was claimed League officials are keen to minimise players’ social media use during play.

As part of the rule, players are not able to use their phones from 45 minutes before tip-off until post-game media obligations have been fulfilled.

League officials are said to have worked with the NBA Players Association in order to get the rule right.

While players and coaches are banned from going on their phones, it’s claimed that one person will be designated as a “point of communication” – able to use their cell phones in case of emergency.

Even if players are inactive for a game, if they are with the team on the bench they too will not be allowed to use their phones.
