Deliveries of Tesla Cybertrucks are reportedly being put on hold as many owners report panels “flying off the supposedly ‘bulletproof’ electric truck,” according to electric vehicle website Electrek. The report explained that Tesla Cybertruck buyers are taking to online forums and social media platform X to complain that their deliveries have been delayed.

An online forum, the Cybertruck Owners Club, has a page dedicated to owners questioning why their electric truck deliveries were delayed.

Some on the forum explained that Tesla specialists told them that there is a “containment hold” on their truck. According to Electrek, a containment hold “generally occurs when an automaker finds something wrong with newly produced vehicles and wants to hold deliveries to fix the issue.”

Electrek reported that at least eight Cybertruck buyers on the online forum have reported a delay with “many more on X and Facebook” reporting the same.

One user wrote on X: “Why there is a hold on all cybertruck deliveries with no explanation? I was supposed to take delivery and the delivery day suddenly disappeared although my vehicle is at the dealer ready to be delivered, saying there is a hold on all cybertrucks deliveries.”

At least one buyer said that the issue on the Cybertruck was related to the trim on the vehicle, according to Electrek.

There have been multiple recalls of the Cybertruck since its launch in 2023. A June 2024 recall involved a piece of black plastic trim that could fly off the truck as it is being driven, according to CNN.

The reports of delayed deliveries come as firms expect Tesla deliveries to fall in the first quarter of 2025. JPMorgan analysts told clients last week that they expect Tesla to report its lowest number of deliveries since the third quarter of 2022 and an 8% decline from the first quarter of 2024, according to a Forbes report.

Tesla stock fell about 5.3% on Tuesday, marking the latest drop for Musk’s company as many Americans express anger toward his role in Trump’s administration.

Tesla dealerships around the country have been the sites of massive ongoing protests for several weeks. Police have said there have been several incidents of vandalism connected to the protests, nicknamed “Tesla Takedowns.”

Many people have also organized boycotts of Tesla—a move that President Donald Trump declared “illegal” last week.

“But the Radical Left Lunatics, as they often do, are trying to illegally and collusively boycott Tesla, one of the World’s great automakers, and Elon’s ‘baby,’ in order to attack and do harm to Elon, and everything he stands for. They tried to do it to me at the 2024 Presidential Ballot Box, but how did that work out?” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“In any event, I’m going to buy a brand new Tesla tomorrow morning as a show of confidence and support for Elon Musk, a truly great American. Why should he be punished for putting his tremendous skills to work in order to help MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN???” Trump added.

This development comes after a recent CNN poll found that 53% of Americans have a negative view of Musk, with just 35% expressing a positive view on the billionaire.
