Plus, an insider accuses Wendy’s guardian of ‘squandering’ the star’s money

WENDY Williams was hospitalized as part of an “elder abuse” investigation after her guardian allegedly sent her to Miami without any money.

An insider exclusively told The U.S. Sun that Wendy, 60, was sent to the hospital on Monday after an Adult Protective Services case was opened on her case last week.

The insider claimed Wendy’s “civil rights and liberty are being denied,” and further accused the guardianship of enabling “elder abuse.”

The source claimed Wendy’s guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, sent the iconic daytime TV host to visit her father in Florida with an empty credit card.

“The guardian gave her a credit card with no funds when she went to Miami.

“During her trip to see her father in Miami last month for his birthday, the credit card given to her by Sabrina was declined and someone else had to pay for her purchases, and thats elder abuse,” the insider alleged.

“Meanwhile, the guardian is spending all her money hiring lawyers to defend herself and squandering Wendy’s money on legal fees.”

Sabrina is currently in a legal battle with Lifetime over the Where Is Wendy Williams? documentary, and has her own attorney representing her in that case.

It is unclear if there are additional legal battles in which Sabrina has hired counsel in her guardianship over Wendy.

The insider confirmed that Wendy’s evaluation on Monday is not connected to the evaluation that is scheduled as part of the lawsuit with Lifetime to determine whether Wendy is able to participate in that legal action.

On Monday, Wendy was transported from the senior living facility she is being held in to a local New York City hospital as part of the investigation into the Adult Protective Services case being leveled against Wendy’s guardianship.

The NYPD responded to The U.S. Sun’s request about Wendy’s welfare check and her transportation to a hospital.

“On Monday, March 10, the NYPD responded to a welfare check….EMS responded and transported a 60-year-old female to an area hospital for evaluation,” the NYPD said in response.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Wendy’s guardian, Sabrina, for comment.

Wendy has been extremely vocal about her treatment under the restrictive guardianship, and has called the facility she is in a luxury prison.

The former Wendy Williams Show host has repeatedly claimed that she is being held captive in the memory unit of her senior living facility, and is unable to exit her floor, as the elevator needs a key to operate it.

INSIDER WENDY’S ‘LUXURY PRISON’

As reported exclusively by The U.S. Sun, former talk show host Wendy Williams has been residing in a studio apartment within the memory care unit of a high-end facility for the past six months.

Wendy’s apartment, located in a stylish Manhattan skyscraper, costs a staggering $13,000 per month, excluding the additional charges for memory care services.

The memory care upgrade at the senior living center comes with a hefty price tag, ranging between $20,000 and $40,000 in addition to her monthly rent.

For privacy reasons, The U.S. Sun has opted not to disclose the name of the facility.

The one-time daytime TV icon has mentioned in recent interviews that she resides on the fifth floor of the building and is not permitted to leave.

Reports indicate she even requires a key to operate the elevator.

Her unit houses seniors with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.

Last year, The U.S. Sun exclusively revealed that Wendy was diagnosed with Alcohol Related Brain Damage.

Following that report, her guardian claimed that Wendy had been diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia.

PETITION TO TERMINATE GUARDIANSHIP

As The U.S. Sun first reported, Wendy’s guardianship attorney filed a formal petition seeking to release her from the highly restrictive guardianship arrangement.

When Wendy’s guardianship was first established in March 2022, she had two court-appointed personal attorneys.

Earlier this month, Wendy revealed on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club that she dismissed one of her attorneys, Linda Redlisky, accusing her of failing to file the necessary paperwork to initiate the process of ending the guardianship.

Her remaining attorney has since taken on the task of pursuing Wendy’s request.

This petition appears to conflict with a recent legal filing by Wendy’s guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, in a dispute with Lifetime over the Where Is Wendy Williams? documentary series.

In the Lifetime case, Sabrina’s attorney suggested that Wendy would undergo a re-evaluation to reassess the scope of her guardianship.

However, the filing concluded with a grim statement: “The Guardian has no interest in pursuing litigation in the extremely unlikely event that the new medical examination finds that W.W.H. somehow now has the mental capacity to direct the A&E matter.”

WENDY BREAKS HER SILENCE

In a series of recent interviews, Wendy has spoken publicly for the first time since stepping out of the spotlight in March 2023.

She has criticized her guardian and pleaded for her release from the senior living facility where she is currently housed.

Wendy Williams Alcohol-Related Brain Damage, Aphasia & Frontotemporal Dementia Diagnoses

By The U.S. Sun’s Senior Reporter Jessica Finn, who has reported on Wendy Williams for the past seven years.

As The U.S. Sun exclusively reported, Wendy Williams was diagnosed with alcohol-related brain damage in 2019 during a rehab stint in Florida.

An insider explained that a brain scan was done as part of Wendy’s rehab stay in Delray Beach.

A neurologist sat down with the star, her son, and her then-husband, Kevin Hunter Sr.

“The doctor explained to them that Wendy was suffering from alcohol-related brain damage.

“They told her that her alcohol abuse had done permanent damage to the layers in her brain,” the insider said.

“She was warned then and there that if she continued to drink, the damage would only get worse.”

In that meeting, they gave Wendy a devastating prognosis.

The doctors at the rehab foretold of the eventual decline of Wendy’s cognitive abilities, which have become apparent to those who have come in contact with the star in recent years.

“They told her that if she kept drinking she would continue to grow more forgetful, that she wouldn’t remember people’s names, and eventually, she could forget who people even were,” the source said.

After a comment call was sent to Wendy’s team, they released a statement saying Wendy had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia in 2023.

“The decision to share this news was difficult and made after careful consideration, not only to advocate for understanding and compassion for Wendy, but to raise awareness about aphasia and frontotemporal dementia and support the thousands of others facing similar circumstances,” the statement read.

Wendy told The Breakfast Club: “I feel like I am in prison. I’m in this place where the people are in their 90s and their 80s and their 70s,” she continued.

During that interview, she burst into tears and accused her guardian of “emotional abuse.”

Wendy’s once-beloved daytime talk show came to an end following a series of personal struggles that caused her to miss the entire final season in 2022.
