Fox News host Greg Gutfeld has made his return to the airwaves following a brief paternity leave,
and true to his style, he didn’t hold back during his return to the *Gutfeld!* desk.
The 60-year-old comedian and political commentator used the opportunity to mix in a comedy monologue about fatherhood, spiced with his signature satirical edge and personal reflections on parenting.
In early December, Gutfeld and his wife, Elena Moussa, 42, welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Mira.
The news was shared with fans during a December 10 segment on *The Five*, where Gutfeld’s co-host Dana Perino read a statement from the proud father.
In the statement, Gutfeld joked about the new chapter in his life: “It is with great joy that my wife Elena and I have welcomed a baby girl into the world. Mira is healthy with a real set of lungs. She has Elena’s beautiful eyes and my rock-hard abs.” He continued his humorous remarks, adding, “We are hard at work teaching her three languages and putting her through rigorous workout routines. She is already very observant and has asked if Jesse (Waters) wears a toupee. I told her that he definitely wears a wig.”
Gutfeld’s return to *Gutfeld!* marked his first appearance on the network since his absence, and it was clear from his opening monologue that he had embraced fatherhood with his usual irreverence. In his typical sarcastic style, he remarked, “When my wife told me she was pregnant, mine was the first diaper she had to change.” The humor didn’t stop there, as Gutfeld discussed the challenges of fatherhood with his audience, acknowledging that while parenting isn’t “earth-shattering,” it has forced him to unlearn some of the selfish habits he had cultivated throughout his life. “The lesson I learned is how much I gotta unlearn, meaning throughout my life I’ve mastered the art of being selfish,” he said, drawing laughs from the studio audience.
This candid reflection on the selfishness of singlehood and the shift that parenthood demands was a rare moment of vulnerability from a man known for his sarcastic, biting commentary. Gutfeld went on to explain that being a parent at 60 has taught him something that younger parents may have learned earlier: “You have to think about someone else.” This sentiment was laced with humor, but also underlined a genuine realization about the responsibilities of fatherhood, which he admitted had made him reassess his priorities.
Gutfeld’s sense of humor and satire are key elements of his public persona, which has earned him a devoted following on both *Gutfeld!* and *The Five*, the latter being the highest-rated show on Fox News. Known for his biting commentary and conservative viewpoints, Gutfeld’s influence in the world of late-night television has grown significantly. His unique brand of comedy, often laced with irony and a disregard for political correctness, has made him one of the most watched figures in the conservative comedy scene.
While Gutfeld has been absent from Fox News since early December, his return to the network was met with a warm welcome. His paternity leave was initially without explanation, but the news was soon revealed by his co-host, Dana Perino, who shared the exciting news of Mira’s birth and offered a glimpse into the lighthearted way Gutfeld was navigating parenthood. Fans were quick to express their excitement for his return and congratulate him on the new addition to his family.
Gutfeld’s marriage to Elena Moussa, a Russian-born fashion stylist, adds an intriguing dynamic to his personal life. The couple married in 2004, just a year after they met in Portugal. Their relationship has stood the test of time, despite the significant age gap between them—Gutfeld is nearly two decades older than his wife. The pair has kept their personal life relatively private, but Gutfeld’s occasional social media posts and comments on *The Five* offer glimpses into their life together.
Now, with the birth of their daughter, Gutfeld and Moussa’s family has reached a new milestone. For Gutfeld, this new chapter offers an opportunity to continue balancing his career in the spotlight with his responsibilities as a father. And while he might never completely shed his sharp, sarcastic humor, the experience of fatherhood has undoubtedly changed him in ways that will shape his future both personally and professionally.
As Gutfeld continues to juggle his career and new parenthood, one thing is clear: his fans will likely continue to enjoy his comedic take on life’s most serious moments, with a healthy dose of irreverence and laughter along the way.
