Jenny Slate is keeping her sights on the future, steering clear of the legal chaos engulfing her It Ends With Us co-stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
Lively, 37, is locked in a high-profile legal and PR battle with Baldoni, 41, after suing him in December for allegedly sexually harassing her during the making of their film—an accusation he has denied.
In response, Baldoni hit back with a staggering $400 million defamation lawsuit against Lively, her publicist, and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, all of whom have denied his claims.
While the legal war rages on, Slate, 42, made it clear during a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter that she’s focused on her latest project, the upcoming TV series Dying for Sex, in which she stars alongside Michelle Williams.
When asked about the ongoing lawsuit, she swiftly shut it down.
‘I don’t have anything to say about that,’ Slate told the outlet.

However, she previously took a stance in December 2024, voicing her support for Lively in the wake of the actress’ initial lawsuit.
Slate also revealed that she began filming Dying for Sex shortly after wrapping It Ends With Us, where she played the sister of Baldoni’s character.
Speaking about her latest role, she emphasized her commitment to her work and her reluctance to get drawn into outside controversies.
‘Everything is its own thing. I poured my heart into this work, and every minute of [Dying for Sex] was important to me, and I just want to talk about that,’ she said.
When pressed about setting boundaries around certain questions, Slate was unwavering in her stance.
‘Anyone can ask anything, but my only responsibility is to speak about the work I’m there to promote. It was so important to me to get this job, so why would I spend time talking about anything but that’
Meanwhile, the fallout from the dueling lawsuits is reportedly taking a toll on Lively’s marriage to Reynolds.
A source told Us Weekly that the intense legal battle and the public scrutiny surrounding it have made things difficult for the couple.

‘Things are tense at home given the level of scrutiny they’re facing,’ the insider shared, adding that the situation has ‘been tough’ on both Lively and Reynolds.
They shared that ‘things are tense at home given the level of scrutiny they’re facing.’
The report comes after Reynolds is under fire for attempting to distance himself from the lawsuit that Justin Baldoni’s attorney claims he played a significant role in shaping.
On Tuesday, Reynolds filed a motion to be dismissed from Baldoni’s $400 million defamation lawsuit.
In his request, Reynolds described himself as a ‘supportive spouse who has witnessed firsthand the emotional, reputational and financial devastation’ Lively endured.
He also claimed Baldoni was attempting to ‘shame’ him for being ‘the kind of man who is confident enough to listen to the woman in his life and stand with her.’
But Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman isn’t having it.
Speaking to TMZ on Wednesday, he fired back, saying, ‘Mr. Reynolds’ exploitation of his enormous power in Hollywood continues, this time arrogantly asking to be dismissed from the case despite his publicly documented involvement extending far beyond just being a ‘supportive spouse.’

It Ends With Us explores the generational effects of domestic violence
Freedman doubled down, accusing Reynolds of playing a central role in what he called a smear campaign.
‘Mr. Reynolds was a key player in the scheme, defaming Justin around Hollywood, strong-arming WME into dropping Justin as a client, and trying to destroy Justin’s career however possible.’
As previously reported, Reynolds’ filing also took aim at Baldoni’s claims that the ‘Nicepool’ character in Deadpool & Wolverine was meant to mock him, dismissing the actor as ‘thin-skinned.’
Freedman, however, scoffed at Reynolds’ attempt to exit the case.
‘His fingerprints have been all over this smear campaign against Justin and the Wayfarer team since day one. Mr. Reynolds now attempts to reduce plainly cognizable claims to ‘hurt feelings,’ sending a clear message that bullying is acceptable.’
He didn’t stop there, adding, ‘After lighting a match, Mr. Reynolds now seeks to run from the flames. It won’t work. The Wayfarer Parties’ claims against him are real, and they are serious.
‘Mr. Reynolds can appear on as many sketch shows as he wants and feebly try to make light of his current situation, but we will not stop until he is held accountable for his actions.’
That ‘sketch shows’ dig appears to reference Reynolds’ SNL 50 appearance, where he and Lively seemingly mocked their ongoing legal drama with Baldoni.
