Ryan Reynolds didn’t utter a single word about wife Blake Lively at his TIME100 Summit on Wednesday morning – and even pivoted after being grilled on how he deals with negative press coverage.

The Deadpool actor, 48, was a guest speaker at Jazz at Lincoln in New York City just one day after his actress wife was named one of TIME’s 100 most influential people of 2025.

And although Ryan talked about his production company Maximum Effort, which he runs alongside Blake on top of their additional business B for Effort and Group Effort Initiative, he decided to keep her out of the dialogue altogether.

The snub comes amid a difficult year for Gossip Girl alum, 37, who is embroiled in a nasty legal dispute with It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni.

During the in conversation, Ryan was asked about not being able to ‘always control’ what the internet and headlines say about him.

The interviewer probed: ‘So how has that media attention impacted your brand and your businesses?’

Ryan, however, swerved the question and instead gave a rambled response.

‘Tina Fey says “if you’re feeling good about yourself, just go online,”‘ he began. ‘Honestly, I give a lot of talks to students about storytelling and about how you can do it in different pockets.

‘You can do it in unexpected ways. My companies’ north stars are bringing people together in smart, fun, and unexpected ways. The last one I did, I mentioned the greatest superpower I ever had in my life.’

Ryan then proceeded to talk about how he tried on many different personalities when he was in his twenties.

‘I’m not saying about just my career or anything, it was just knowing who I am. When you’re young and you’re your twenties, you’re trying on personalities like shirts.

‘I mean you’re literally, “I’ll be this person, I’m that person.” Then one day you’ve stolen from a thousand, so you’re a genius, not a beef, and you’ve pulled all these different references and these feelings and you know yourself.’

He continued: ‘I read an article about myself that was just like, let’s have a messy stabbing death here with this guy. And then I read another article that was so lauding, it’s just like this guy should come the prize for blah blah blah blah.

‘And my reaction to both was a sort of disconnected, dispassionate sort of observation on devaluation. And I thought, whoa, that’s weird because both are stories that aren’t true.

‘And it really clicked in every part of it.

‘And as someone, I skipped rehab in his twenties and decided to go to conflict resolution workshops in Santa Fe, which I both recommend and I do not recommend unless you love turquoise jewelry.

‘But yeah, I went and that also helped with a lot of things too. So those are two weird tools that I didn’t expect to advance things in other areas.’

On Tuesday, Blake praised those who ‘uplift’ others to ‘live boldly’ after being named one of TIME’s 100 most influential people of the year.

Brushing off her recent legal dramas, she spoke of the importance of being given a ‘voice.’

She wrote: ‘Thank you for the honor. I’m able to see this moment, almost looking back from the future, or looking ahead from childhood, and from every time period I can see how profound this is to me.

‘Not just to be included, but to have a voice. It’s a fortunate thing, when it should be a given.

‘So thank you to @time and to each of you who uplift the many who live boldly, even when it’s scary.’

She also thanked civil rights attorney Sherrilyn Ifill – who was head of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund when Blake and her husband Ryan gave $1 million to the organization in 2019 – for providing a glowing tribute in honor of her.

‘Thank you @sherrilynifill for your words. Since the day I met you, you have shown me grace, kindness, curiosity, wisdom, strength, knowledge and the power of the female fire to illuminate in times of darkness,’ she continued.

‘You constantly illustrate how connected we all are and can be when division feels like the only ending.

‘Thank you for your light, your fire, your work and your words.’

Ryan and Blake got married in September 2012 and have four children together.

Last month, a source told Us Weekly that the back-and-forth in court and in the headlines has ‘been tough’ for them both.

‘It’s been really hard for Blake and Ryan,’ a second source told the publication, adding that couple are attempting to stay ‘positive and support each other.’

‘There are good days and bad days for both of them,’ they added.
