With one week left until a new American Idol champion is crowned, the Top 5 took the stage for one final chance to earn a spot in the finale.

Monday night marked the second of two American Idol Disney-themed episodes where the competitors performed some of their favorite Disney hits. Cameras followed the Top 5 hopefuls and their families around Disneyland ahead of the episode, allowing them to share a special moment with their loved ones while channeling their inner child.

Jamal Roberts, Breanna Nix, Thunderstorm Artis, Slater Nalley, and John Foster each delivered two songs featured in Disney films for the episode. The artists and the songs they performed are:

Jamal Roberts: “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” from Remember the Titans and “Beauty and the Beast” from Beauty and the Beast

Breanna Nix: “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love) from The Parent Trap and “You’ll Be In My Heart” from Tarzan

Thunderstorm Artis: “A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes” from Cinderella and “Find Yourself” from Cars

Slater Nalley: “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” from Toy Story and “Born To Be Wild” from D3: The Mighty Ducks

John Foster: “The Bare Necessities” from The Jungle Book and “Rainbow Connection” from The Muppet Movie

Who made Top 3?

All of the Top 5 deserve a spot in the finale, as evidenced by the crowd reaction to their performances Monday night. Every performance was flawless and was a testament to the growth the semi-finalists have experienced on their American Idol journey.

Unfortunately, only three hopefuls could advance to next week’s finale. The tension was palpable as host Ryan Seacrest held the results in his hand and started naming names. The three contestants who earned enough of America’s votes to compete in next week’s finale are: John Foster, Jamal Roberts, and Breanna Nix.

Meaning that the journeys of Thunderstorm Artis and Slater Nalley came to an end.

Tune in to the American Idol Season 23 finale Sunday, May 18, to find out who will take home this season’s crown!
