Before Dolly Parton signed on to Sabrina Carpenter’s remix of “Please, Please, Please,” the country star had one rule.
Speaking with Knox News in an interview published Tuesday, March 18, Parton praised the “Espresso” singer but said she does “talk a little bad now and then” — and that’s not Parton’s style.
“I told her, I said, ‘Now, I don’t cuss,’” the “9 to 5” singer, 79, said. “’I don’t make fun of Jesus. I don’t talk bad about God, and I don’t say dirty words on camera, but known to if I get mad enough.’”
Therefore, Carpenter scratched the “motherf—er” from the chorus on the remix and switched it to “I beg you, don’t embarrass me like the others.”

Carpenter, 25, released Parton’s country rendition of her 2024 hit on Feb. 14 as a part of the deluxe edition of her album Short n’ Sweet.
“Dolly and me singing in a pickup truck!!!!!! I am so honored to have one of my biggest idols on a song that means so much to me. ‘Short n’ Sweet’ deluxe is out now! Go watch and listen!!!! Love you forever @dollyparton ,” Carpenter wrote in a preview of the music video on Instagram.

A few days later, Parton posted a cute video on TikTok of herself and Carpenter bonding on the set of their music video.
“Two blondes are one thing, a collab with @Sabrina Carpenter is another ,” Parton wrote in the caption. “Behind the scenes of ‘Please Please Please,’ out now…”
In the behind the scenes, Carpenter and Parton shared cute moments on set and often complimented each other.
At one point, Carpenter was seen greeting Parton as she stepped into a blue truck and sat next to her behind the driver’s seat. “Hi, how are you doing?” Parton asked as Carpenter replied, “How are you? You look amazing!”

In another scene, they were chatting and laughing together in the truck.
“We’re in a truck,” Parton said to the camera from the passenger’s seat. “We’re in a pickup truck,” Carpenter explained. “Big hair. It’s all just … the stars are aligning.”
Meanwhile, the vintage-inspired music video featured a not-so-subtle nod to Carpenter’s ex, actor Barry Keoghan, and shows Carpenter and Parton driving down a country road while being chased by the police as a handcuffed male lies in the back of the truck. The original music video featured Keoghan, 32, as a criminal.
When asked who she wants to work with next, Parton said “Whoever calls me that I like.”
She added, “(And) I’ll I say, ‘Yeah, I’ll do that!”
