What began with over 50 diapers a day and endless bottles now looks more like orthodontist appointments, sports schedules, and crafting birthday t-shirts for six growing girls. Nearly a decade after the world met the Busby family on OutDaughtered, their story continues to evolve—still rooted in chaos, heart, and intention.
Adam and Danielle Busby never sought fame; they simply wanted to expand their family. Already parents to one daughter, Blayke, they underwent fertility treatments and were stunned when Danielle became pregnant with quintuplets. On April 8, 2015, they welcomed Ava, Olivia, Hazel, Riley, and Parker—five girls born prematurely who spent time in the NICU before coming home.
Their journey captured national attention, becoming the first all-girl quintuplets born in the U.S., and TLC cameras soon followed. When OutDaughtered premiered in 2016, the family’s day-to-day life was a whirlwind of diapers, bottles, and round-the-clock care. But what drew viewers in was never just the novelty—it was the commitment, the joy, and the vulnerability.
As the girls grew, so did the complexity of life. Danielle began experiencing unexplained health issues—pain, migraines, numbness, and digestive problems—leading to a long journey of medical testing with no firm diagnosis. Suspecting an autoimmune condition, she focused on managing symptoms through diet, rest, and mindfulness, while Adam stepped in more at home.
The couple made it clear early on: their daughters wouldn’t be raised as a “set.” From schooling decisions to filming boundaries, every choice is rooted in individuality. Riley, deemed academically advanced, began kindergarten ahead of her sisters—an unconventional move that sparked debate. But Adam pushed back on criticism: “There’s nobody out there who knows the intricacy of the decisions we make.”
Ten seasons into filming, the Busbys say they let their daughters opt in or out of filming day-by-day. As the girls grow older—and busier—shooting schedules now revolve around after-school activities and friend time. Danielle admits it’s become harder to juggle it all, but emphasizes they remain committed to balance: “We do love to split our girls up at times and do one-on-one dates.”
Blayke, now 14, is entering her teen years with new interests that set her apart from her younger sisters. As the only non-multiple, she’s received more individualized attention at home to help her feel seen and valued. Danielle, who grew up in a similar sibling dynamic, is particularly intentional in nurturing that bond. “She’s growing up to be such an amazing young lady,” Danielle recently wrote in a heartfelt birthday tribute.
Meanwhile, the quintuplets recently celebrated their 10th birthday—each wearing a matching t-shirt that read “BRUH ITS MY BIRTHDAY,” underscoring their shared connection but unmistakable differences. Fans quickly noticed how tall Parker has grown compared to her sisters, while many commented on how much Ava and Olivia resemble Blayke. Danielle confirmed the pair are identical twins, often in sync emotionally and physically.
Each of the five girls, though deeply bonded, is forging her own path. Hazel, with her iconic red hair, has navigated vision issues with grace. Riley thrives in leadership roles. Olivia brings humor, Parker curiosity, and Ava gentleness. Their personalities are distinct—and their parents are determined to support each one uniquely.
Of course, raising six daughters comes with its own financial reality. What may be a minor cost for a typical family multiplies in the Busby household. School lunches, summer camps, and medical expenses—especially the recent $35,000 orthodontist estimate—require careful budgeting. “That’s outrageous,” Danielle admitted, even as she acknowledged the desire to give their girls enriching experiences.
Now approaching a decade on television, the Busbys continue to reevaluate each season. They don’t take for granted the chance to document their journey—or the digital memory book it’s become for their daughters. Adam noted that one day, their children and even grandchildren will be able to look back and see the beautiful, chaotic evolution of their family life.
For Adam and Danielle, the goal has never changed: raise strong, kind, individual daughters who know who they are and feel supported every step of the way. Cameras or not, that remains the heart of their story.
