Watch ‘The Voice’ Winners Asher HaVon and Huntley Share Special Moment With Season 26 Champ Sofronio Vasquez
With season 26 of The Voice announcing Sofronio Vasquez as the winner, the singer stood on the stage, trying to process his victory. Like thousands before him, Vasquez wanted nothing more than a chance to perform for the coaches that included Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire, Gwen Stefani, and Michael Bublé. While getting that chance, Vasquez only dreamed of making it into the finale. But it appeared that fate had big plans for the singer as he walked away the winner. And to make the moment even better, he stood alongside two former winners Asher HaVon and Huntley.
For those who might need a refresher, Huntley made his debut on The Voice back during season 24. Part of Niall Horan’s team, the singer continuously dominated the competition at 33 years old. Not letting the younger performers outshine him, he brought Horan his second win. As for HaVon, he landed on The Voice thanks to Reba. Working together throughout the competition, HaVon not only won the competition, giving Reba her first win on The Voice, but he also released a song in her honor titled “Thank You.” With both Huntley and HaVon knowing the pressure of competing on the show, they decided to share a fun moment with Vasquez.
Posting a video on Instagram, Huntley held The Voice trophy before passing it along to HaVon. With each singer explaining how they won the competition, HaVon handed it to the newest winner Vasquez. Taking the trophy, Vasquez struggled to find the words as confetti filled the floor around him.
Sofronio Vasquez Explains Why He Picked Michael Bublé As Coach
Celebrating his victory with his coach, Vasquez once admitted he almost went with another coach. Making his first big decision on the show, the singer had to pick from all four coaches. And when pondering working with Bublé, he remembered, “I was thinking, ‘What if I pick him and I cannot express myself because I’m always intimidated?’ I felt like that wouldn’t work, but when the time came that he was pitching his ideas, I was really in shock that he was very Filipino.”
With Bublé having a love for Filipino culture, Vasquez insisted, “He has so much Filipino, they call them “very Pinoy.” It was a very heart-to-heart talk and he’s very emotional. That was the deciding factor. That was my perfect moment with him, and it worked out very well.”
