The Kardashians star Kim Kardashian, who has four children with Kanye West, says one of her sons was diagnosed with a skin condition during a recent podcast interview

Kim Kardashian revealed one of her sons was diagnosed with a hereditary skin condition.

The reality star and socialite, 43, shares North, 11 Saint, eight, Psalm, five, and Chicago, six, with ex-husband Kanye West. During a recent interview, she said one of her sons was diagnosed with vitiligo. She didn’t specify whether it was Psalm or Chicago.

Discussing her child’s skin condition, Kim explained on the She MD podcast: “My son has an auto-immune disease and they said it’s hereditary and so we were trying to figure it out.” Kim, who has psoriasis, added that her son has the condition “very mildly”, telling the host that it ‘came from her mum and went to her’ before she passed it on ‘in a different form’.

As written on the NHS website, Vitiligo is a long-term condition where pale white patches develop on the skin. It’s caused by the lack of melanin, which is the pigment in the skin. Kim went on to say that her son’s condition, which she “didn’t know anything about”, was “under control”.

The star said: “I didn’t know anything about it, but having to learn about it and figuring out where it came from and that it’s hereditary and just learning more and being able to share that has been a blessing.” The reality star also said her children also have “a little bit of eczema”.

The 43-year-old reality star has been very open about her experience living with psoriasis Psoriasis can happen to anyone and there is no cure as it’s an over-reaction of the immune system which causes inflammation and the rapid growth of skin cells. Kim was diagnosed with the condition in 2011. Her momager Kris Jenner also suffers from the disease.

Kim once revealed she was upset when she found rashes on her body and has previously spoken out about the condition, saying it had “taken over” her body. “My career is doing ad campaigns and swimsuit photoshoots, people don’t understand the pressure on me to look perfect,” she said on an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

“When I gain a pound, it’s in the headlines. Imagine what the tabloids would do to me if they saw all these spots.” Kim discovered she had psoriasis when she was 30 years old. The star was at a birthday party for her sister Kourtney’s son Mason and wore an itchy sequin dress.
