Andy Cohen loses it live on air over comment from his son Benjamin, six
Andy Cohen was reduced to tears live on air this week, thanks to a touching comment made by his six-year-old son Benjamin.
The 56-year-old Bravo honcho has welcomed two children via surrogacy, Benjamin Allen and a daughter called Lucy Eve who will turn three next week.
He recently took Benjamin and Lucy to Disney World, along with his pal Anderson Cooper, who brought along his own children as well.
Now Andy has recalled the moving remark that Benjamin made in Florida, prompting the father and son to share the ‘longest hug.’
While telling the story on air, Andy started audibly crying, his voice crackling with emotion as he occasionally struggled to continue.
‘And he goes: “You know, Daddy, when I’m 60” – oh, I’m gonna cry,’ Andy began, before revealing what Benjamin wanted to do at 60.

‘He goes: “I wanna take a pill so I can come back and be little like this, so I can just be with you.” And we had the longest hug, ‘cause I think he was realizing, you know….’
In an interview with Anderson two years ago, Andy revealed the thinking behind his decision to become a father as he neared 50.
‘Your mom loved that Peggy Lee song, Is That All There Is?’ said Andy, referring to Anderson’s mother, the famed socialite Gloria Vanderbilt.
‘That’s where I was. I was approaching 50, and I heard that song in my head. I was like: “There’s gotta be a greater purpose for me. This is wonderful, and I absolutely love it. But there has to be a greater purpose,”‘ he said on CBS.
Having children has ‘has changed me in every way. I mean, I think my priorities have completely shifted,’ the Real Housewives producer explained.
‘I think my sense of accomplishment has totally changed. And even just getting your kids breakfast and getting them out to school, when I drop him off at school, I’m like: “You did it, dude! That was a rough two-and-a-half hours, you know?”‘
Andy also explained why he did not allow the fact that he was single to stop him from becoming a father – though it has changed what he looks for in a relationship.
‘I just thought: “I wanna do this. And I’m doing it. And I know it’s gonna be really hard, and I don’t know what that actually means.”‘

However he admitted that ‘I think this year for the first time, I think having Lucy, my second child, I think suddenly I was like: “Wow. I have two kids. I’m doing this alone.”‘
He also spoke about juggling his work schedule with his family life, saying: ‘If I spend three hours with Ben, and then I have to go to work, you know, you’re at work, and you’re like: Did I spend enough time with Ben today?’
Meanwhile he also bared his soul about the high points of being a father, saying: ‘If Ben tells me that I’m his best friend or he grabs for my hand to hold it, or he cuddles me extra tight, I mean, there’s not gonna be a bigger win in my day than that.’
Andy has also published a book about fatherhood called Daddy Diaries: The Year I Grew Up, and started an accompanying podcast with the same name.
