Michael Jordan Took 13 Years to Sell His $9.5M Mansion—Now the Buyer Is Dealing With an Unexpected Nightmare!

THE new owner of Michael Jordan’s incredible old mansion has been hit by a major issue.

NBA legend Jordan finally sold his abandoned home “Champions Point” just weeks ago for $9.5million, 13 years after putting it on sale for $29m.

Businessman John Cooper splashed out for the sprawling, nine-bedroom, 19-bathroom home in Chicago.

Cooper is a huge fan of Jordan – but of course still hoped to turn it into a tidy financial investment.

He paid more than $5m below the last asking price of $14.89m for the property, which includes an infinity pool and a basketball court.

But Realtor.com say he has been forced into a drastic re-think about rental prices.

Jordan initially made the mansion available for $230,000 a month.

But he’s already decided to cut that fee to $150k.

Cooper has also been offering $1m timeshares – giving co-owners one week of access each year.

But it appears admirers of the unique site have baulked at the prices – at least for renting it.

And amazingly, the property’s links to former Chicago Bulls hero Jordan, 62, might not have been as enticing as many would have thought.

Jordan’s famous logo has been taken out from the center of the basketball court in updated photos for the rental advert.

And in fact there is no mention of the six-time NBA winner.

Instead the focus is on offering a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” to stay in a home “meticulously designed for those who live and breathe sports”.

Meanwhile, the property’s website says: “Champions Point is more than just a residence – it’s a haven for sports lovers, blending the thrill of the game with an immersive, one-of-a-kind experience.”

The estate was put together in 1995, with the emphasis very much on an active life.

And along with a large gym, tennis court and a putting green, the gates at the front boast Jordan’s iconic “23” Bulls number.

As for relaxation time, there’s a theatre, wine cellar and cigar room.

Cooper will hope he can finally relax too – if tenants now rush in to stay.
