MICHAEL Strahan has sent a clear message over his own Fox NFL Sunday future following Jimmy Johnson’s retirement.

The New York Giants legend has been a mainstay on the popular weekend show for years.

He is a regular, joined by Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Rob Gronkowski and Co.

However, Strahan was left emotional on Monday after Johnson announcing his exit.

The 81-year-old veteran broadcaster revealed on he was stepping away from TV screens.

He told Colin Cowherd on The Herd show he had been contemplating the decision for at least five years.

Strahan gave an update on his future recently, telling viewers he would definitely be back for the 2025 NFL season.

But he was clearly devastated by Johnson’s retirement news.

The American football icon posted an image of him hugging the tearful Dallas Cowboys legend.

And he sent his close friend Johnson a touching message alongside it.

Congratulations on your retirement @JimmyJohnson!,” said Strahan on social networking site X.

“It has been 17 seasons of fun and laughs sitting next to you.

Fans reacted with sadness at Strahan’s post, sending the pair floods of messages.

“End of an golden era,” said one.

Another added: “Going to miss Jimmy.”

A third commented: “Had a feeling when that montage was shown to and about Jimmy that it was coming to an end.

“Coach, you have always been one of my favorites in the world of football.

“The Cowboys are still cursed for causing your premature departure. It’s close to the Curse of the Bambino!”

And a fourth replied: “As someone who watches from the outside I can tell ppl love Jimmy.

“Hes a good man and im happy he gets to do what he wants in his golden years.

“I’ll say this though, I wouldn’t consider what he did work, he was doing what he loved, which was talking football.”

Meanwhile, Bradshaw’s future is still up in the air, with calls for the 76-year-old to retire.
