Inside Kim Kardashian’s Mansion

Kanye West got in a bit of trouble with his then-wife, Kim Kardashian, when he shared images of the interior of the then-couple’s Hidden Hills home on Twitter in April 2018.

“Ummm babe. We had a rule to not show our home on social media! Soooo can we now allow KUWTK filming in the home?” she tweeted. She later clarified that her message was meant to be a joke.

The then-couple reportedly purchased the home for $20 million in 2014, but Kardashian’s mom, Kris Jenner, tweeted in April 2018 that the house was then worth $60 million. However, in spite of what Jenner said, during their divorce Kardashian bought the house and all of its belongings from West for $23 million. She has continued to live there with their four children, North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm.

Since West’s 2018 tweet, Kardashian has seemingly been less strict about showing off the mansion to the world. Here are the best snaps that has shared inside her $60 million family home.

A Massive Renovation

The then-couple moved into the house in December 2017, following an extensive renovation, during which they stayed with Kardashian’s mom.

The Playroom

“You guys always say my house is so minimal — well, you guys haven’t seen my playroom,” Kardashian said while narrating a tour of the playroom in February 2020. The space includes everything from a ball pit and slide setup to Murakami pillows that can retail for up to $6,000.

The kids have an assortment of everything you can imagine, including ride-on horses and stuffed animals, as well as (not pictured) musical instruments set up around a play stage.

Even though color is allowed in the playroom, it’s very carefully incorporated. The walk-in crafts closet is hyper-organized with bins, and the costumes have their own hanging space.

“Everything we do is an art installation and a playroom,” Kardashian declared of her unique home decor in Architectural Digest in February 2020 — and that includes this Isabel Rower sculpture that gets its own dedicated room.

North’s Bedroom

There’s at least one room in the Kardashian home that isn’t shades of beige: the bedroom for her eldest child North, However, the child’s all-blush, butterfly-adorned room does fall in line with the home’s overall “monochrome” vibe.

When choosing Belgian designer Axel Vervoordt to come up with the ideas for the very distinctive home (including this “Floating Stone” coffee table), West told Architectural Digest, “When I saw the kind of work he was doing, I thought, This man could design Batman’s house. I had to work with him.”

The Breakfast Nook

Both West and Kardashian shared this snapshot of their entire brood gathered around a circular wooden table at home in January 2020.

Each family member seemed to be invested in a different aspect of the gathering, with West and Kardashian focusing on what Saint was holding. North, meanwhile, had one of their Pomeranian pups under her arm.

Surprisingly, the only two in the group looking at the camera were youngest siblings Psalm and Chicago. And Psalm looked to be the calmest, lying in a baby sleeper in the center of the table, as his family buzzed about in the background around their plates of eggs, fruit, sausages and cereal.

“Morning Madness,” Kardashian captioned her post, on which her sister Khloé Kardashian commented, “This is bliss!!!!!! ”

The Pantry

After fans expressed bewilderment at her fridge — just as spare and empty as the rest of the house — Kardashian gave them a look into her massive walk-in fridge (one of five) and pantry to assure them that she does, in fact, keep food in her refrigerators for her family.

The former couple worked with Belgian architect Axel Vervoordt to completely remodel the home, creating a stark, almost-church-like aesthetic, visible in another photo that West shared on Twitter.

Asked by Architectural Digest how she keeps the space so pristine with three kids in residence, Kardashian said, “Oh my God. I run around the house with towels. You just have to take a deep breath and say, ‘Ok, it’s going to happen. We decided to have light colors.’”

Kardashian gave a tour of the palatial property, showing off one of the home’s two kitchens in a Vogue “73 questions” video. There’s a “staff kitchen” and a “show kitchen” (pictured).

The Mysterious Master Bath

She also shared the master bedroom, the grand entryway, a seating area and a master bathroom that sparked a lot of confusion among viewers.

Her unique double sinks, which appear to have faucets but no basin, left many mystified after the Vogue video dropped, so the SKKN BY KIM mogul took to Instagram to clarify how they work, “since everyone is a little bit confused.”

Kardashian demonstrates that the custom-designed (by Vervoordt and West himself) counter has a slight slope so that the water hits the surface and flows down into a slot at the edge that serves as a drain. “You can put it on as high pressure as you want and no backsplash will come up,” she explains in the Instagram video.

Jonathan Van Meter, the writer of Vogue‘s May cover story, also revealed some intriguing details about the home.

“I had to pass through layers of Pentagon-level security and hesitated at their forbidding front door, which looks like it might be lowered over a moat, before deciding to walk around the side and enter through the garage like a normal person,” he writes of the entrance to their massive abode.

In the garage, he says, there is a “security pod, manned 24 hours a day” along with a wall of shelves that held boxes of Adidas Yeezy sneakers and another wall with black suitcases.

A Musical Surprise in the Living Room

For Valentine’s Day 2019, West gifted Kardashian the sweet surprise of Kenny G playing tunes in her living room while standing in the middle of a field of roses. “NO BIG DEAL KENNY G IN MY LIVING ROOM!!! Happy Valentines Day,” Kardashian tweeted alongside one video of the experience.

Kardashian told AD that she and West designed the house with their kids in mind, despite its almost all-white interior. “We decided we wanted a house that didn’t need baby-proofing,” she said of much of the home’s round-edged furniture.
