Jake Paul has compared his fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr to Paddy Pimblett’s UFC victory over Michael Chandler.
YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul is set to face former world champion and Canelo Alvarez’s former rival Chavez Jr on June 28.

Paul believes his fight with Chavez is no different to Pimblett’s win over Chandler
Despite the Mexican’s pedigree, he is now 39-years-old and has fought just once since 2021, so is considered far out of his prime.
As a result, the ‘Problem Child’ has once again faced criticism regarding his selection of opponent, as he did for facing Mike Tyson last November.
But the American has pointed out Pimblett received praise for his UFC 314 victory over Chandler, a fighter of the same age.
He said in a social media video: “Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is a former world champion, a cruiserweight world champion.
“The same weight as me, the same size as me, and 20 years more pro boxing experience than me. For you inbreds, let’s get the excuses out of the way.
“Last week, Paddy Pimblett beat Michael Chandler, and the whole world lost their mind, but not a single person mentioned Michael Chandler’s age.
“That’s because he’s still within his prime ages, the same age as Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
“If people didn’t have a problem with Paddy, then why do they have a problem with me?
“When I beat him, don’t even try to cry about his age.”
Chandler is the same age, but is considered far more of a threat than Chavez Jr in his respective sport.

The American was still ranked seventh in the UFC lightweight rankings, but has now lost five of his last six fights.
Paul’s opponent is in a similar predicament, and even lost to UFC star Anderson Silva in the boxing ring in 2021.
The American himself dropped and beat ‘The Spider’ in October 2022, so has the advantage over Chavez Jr.
Nonetheless, the former champion is already in training and is hoping to hand a second career defeat to Paul.
After defeat to natural boxer Fury, Paul has much to prove in the boxing ring as a professional.
And Chavez Jr believes he could be under-estimated on the night.

“First of all, I will show what I can do now that everything is in the right place in my life—mentally and physically,” he said.
“I feel rejuvenated and 10 years younger. Second, I want to thank MVP for taking the risk of fighting me.
“Unfortunately for their Problem Child, they’re going to have a big problem this June—one they won’t know how to resolve.
“Hopefully when I beat him, people won’t underestimate this win.”
